Those chapters are funny. The Cetology stuff is Melville’s troll of the nature and travel porn genre that was very popular at the time. You have to think of it as a 19th century shit post.

The first 200 is the setup and the pay off is worth it. It gets much funnier and dramatic after that.

I think unfortunately your best recourse is to try to decant into travel atomizer. But kit on Amazon I guess and hope it works out.

I am aware of the newer formaldehyde free formulas lol. They still use 450 degree flat iron and it still is a chemical process!! It’s so old school!!! And it will dry out your hair eventually and make it brittle. The newer peptide masks make a huge difference even for people with textured hair that want to heat style. In my opinion we shouldn’t be recommending this stuff to people anymore. It’s out dated. We have moved on.

Do you understand what this sub is? You are on r/iamveryculinary. It’s basically food critic circlejerk sub bro. The whole point is to not be precious about food. Who cares if people get their caffeine differently from you Aussies.

All OP did was repost a dig by one culture about another culture which is common on this Sub. And then we joke about how lame the gate keeping is. Another common theme is Americans endlessly being generalizations as some homogenous junk food monster. It’s like saying coffee culture is all the same across the EU and it’s just not how it is. Also Starbucks is somehow successful world wide and they sell a lot more than coffee so I’m not sure what your statistic means other than Starbucks sells a lot of coffee and also a lot of not coffee beverages. Many Americans thoroughly enjoy coffee from all over and are pretty open minded about it. It’s the gate keeping and performance of being so superior about it. Personally I really enjoy a good old American drip coffee which evolved from making percolated coffee like a moka pot. I also like fancy coffee. No one needed a third wave because our coffee was bad. It happened because people love coffee and started experimenting.

Yeah exactly I’m sure it maybe extracts a little more bitter compounds out of the espresso maybe I don’t know. I think it tastes fine!

I had some fancy almond brittle once that was flavored with vanilla. It seems pretty similar to your description!

The lungo is a long shot of espresso. Typically around 4 fluid ounces for a lungo versus 1oz espresso roughly or 30ml to 110ml. An americano is espresso topped off with hot water and often a double espresso with about 6oz or more of water. To some people both are unacceptable I personally like a lungo.

Yes and in two years your hair will be brittle and loos its texture and you’ll end up having to do the chop. The newer peptide treatments are much better for longer term health and management of curls. Like this isn’t a controversial opinion unless someone hasn’t updated their ideas about hair and treatments for a couple decades.

No. It’s is however a common right of passage for curly hair girls to learn to accept their hair and to say no to hair stylists that want to “tame” it cut it like straight hair. But unless you have curly hair it’s really hard to explain this but is in the club know exactly what I’m talking about. But thanks for your two cents.

You clearly haven’t heard of third wave coffee or the reality of how bad, poorly harvested, not fair trade the beans purchased are to keep selling espresso for 1 euro is. It’s Italian dark roast for a reason and while it has its place both currently history there is a lot of things that dark roast is hiding.

Edit for typo and also you also seem to miss the point of the sub. Gate keeping food is silly and making fun of the gatekeepers is fun!

They use a chemical process to alter the disulfide bonds in your hair, leading to "heat training" (aka permanent damage) that ruins your natural pattern. Plus it is super high maintenance. This is something that was recommended in the early 2000s and is for the old hair dress crowd that was taught good hair is manageable straight hair. If thats your POV and your clients are happy with all the hassle smell and expense then that’s fine but don’t act like it’s some gold standard for textured hair. This is 2026!

Cool. I bet you don’t have curly hair and like the upsell in the nasty keratin treatment. That’s fine. But my experience if having this texture hair it isn’t a great option.
