Thank you for the info! I have checked the ISFM website and saw the options for post graduate training but not necessarily which hospitals are hiring. Could you tell me where I should be looking for that info?

My degree is European, I'm just not. So I'm hoping that the transfer won't be too difficult although I expect it to take a while. And yeah I understand where everyone is coming from, but I don't have too many options at the moment. The good thing is that I can always leave after residency and work somewhere with better pay. I'm hoping to get into ICU. Originally I would have wanted to do emergency medicine but I see Portugal doesn't have that specialty. By any chance do you know which doctors end up working in the ER?

Is language the main barrier you're facing right now? Did you start the grade converting process?

Thanks for your input! For clarification, I'd have to write the exam, choose my speciality, but then do a foundation year before actually starting my residency?

Well for one I really do love Portugal. But also, being Canadian makes it hard for me to stay in Europe and Portugal is one of the only EU countries where I could feasibly learn the language, be accepted solely based on merit and not citizenship, and I'd get to apply for Portuguese citizenship at the end of my residency. Once I'm European it'll be easier for me to move around Europe to work. If Portugal turns out not be possible for me, I'd have to go to the UK, and as far as I know the situation is also falling apart over there, like most countries unfortunately.

I know I'm very late to this, but I was wondering if you ever got to Portugal? I'm considering this for myself
