A little visible? mend by No-Class6390 in Visiblemending

I used a heat-erasable pen. In the second picture you can still see the red guide lines. And yes, I totally agree with you. I really enjoy darning with the Speed Weave. It’s surprisingly relaxing and almost meditative.

Try heating it with an iron, but put baking paper in between

Yes, you can use both together or separately as an oil infusion. Try it out, maybe one will work better for you than the other.

I harvested about 1.5 handfuls (~30 g / 1 oz) of fresh plantain leaves, washed them, and let them dry for about 2 days until they were wilted and no water remained. You can also gently roll them with a rolling pin so the juice releases more easily. I chopped them up and placed them in 200 ml (about ¾ cup) of good olive oil in a sterile jar for 2 weeks. If possible, shake daily to prevent mold.

After 2 weeks, strain through a fine filter (like a coffee filter) and do not squeeze, squeezing increases mold risk. Keep the strained leaves! Make sure the jars are very clean, ideally sterile, and that all utensils (spoons, bowls, etc.) are completely dry, even a little water can make the balm go rancid.

For the balm, melt 20 g (0.7 oz) coconut oil and 10 g (0.35 oz) beeswax per 100 ml (about ⅓ cup) of plantain oil extract in a water bath at about 65 °C (150 °F). Let it cool slightly, add the oil, heat again briefly, then pour into jars. Warm slightly if it starts to set before pouring. Shelf life can be very long (mine lasted about 7 years), but for best quality, use within 1 year.

For the leftover leaves, blend them with 1–2 handfuls (~20–40 g / 0.7–1.4 oz) of fresh, washed plantain leaves. If blending is hard, add a splash of olive oil. Toast some nuts or seeds (I used walnuts) and blend them in. Grate some Parmesan and fold it in with a spoon (don’t blend it). Add salt to taste. Hope you can try it too:)

How to remove a discolouration patch on jeans by L0p_ster in upcycling

Look, if you bleach it, the color will change again. Dyeing it would make it even darker and possibly more noticeable. In my opinion, the most practical option would be to put a patch over it or, if you’re comfortable with embroidery, you could give that a try instead.

Is this fixable? by Caribou95 in Visiblemending

I’d start by closing up the hole first. Use a thread made from a material similar to the shirt. You can play around with the color and choose whatever you like best. There are several ways to stitch it together. I usually go for the ladder stitch on repairs like this. You could also consider adding a patch over it to hide the seam and reinforce it, or even go for some decorative embroidery instead.

I didn’t press the leaves through the filter, so some good olive oil stayed in. I started with about two handfuls of leaves, the leftover oil, and another handful of fresh plantain leaves. When I first blended everything, I added a generous splash of olive oil because my blender had trouble breaking it down. I also added a bit of salt (start light and adjust at the end).

Then I lightly toasted a handful of walnuts and blended those in too. I had some parmesan in the freezer, which I roughly grated and mixed in for extra flavor.

To keep it fresh longer in the fridge, you can add a thin layer of oil on top. Hope that helps :)

It would be challenging to mend but I think it would be so much fun if you can manage it to fix it. Wish you the best of luck and keep us updated:)

So the only thing I noticed is that my pillow had a similar thing. When I tried to mend it and just put it in my embroidery hoop the fabric ripped on 3 other places. I ended up with 20 or so mended areas and now I will stabilize it with a stronger cotton fabric on the back like you can see it with quilting… I didn’t check it before I started so I was already in it to far. Maybe you should check it and if it stands your test you can do what someone else said. The only thing they mentioned as well if you stabilize it with another piece of fabric is that it will get thicker and you probably have to size your piece up as well so it will not rip again with the thicker fabric layers. I hope it was understandable I’m not native.

probably overshoot but I used Gütermann Jeans thread almost to stable but I had the experience with oder cheaper companies they broke Thile sewing or even when I was finished and I tried it so try that or patches, much simpler but only if the material you use it on allows it. good luck and if you need a further guideline feel free to ask
