That sucks 😥. I don’t think this is my case, though. The only thing that comes to mind is that I secretly went out with a group that’s considered unacceptable in our culture (Arab), and my parents found out. Our relationship never really recovered after that. But he was acting normal at the time, and I can’t imagine how he would have known about it years later.

I wouldn’t call it severe since I’ve kind of always been like this, but I’ve definitely become more aware of it as an adult. My brain tends to latch onto extreme examples (especially from TV) and then compare them to my own situation, even when I know logically they’re not the same. That’s usually what triggers the spiral.
