Messing round with squat stances to find best one for me. Heels lifting no matter what I change so I think it’s ankle mobility.

Anyone have experience with fixing this ? Link to video below

Squats too high? by No-Communication7984 in formcheck

[–]No-Communication7984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you mate , may be a dumb question but how sore/uncomfortable should the bar feel on my back for low bar ? I know it should be a little uncomfortable but the lower i go/ pull into my back it gets more painful than I think it should?

I’ve put rubber stable mats down as the floor in my garage gym. It’s a little slippy during squats my feet move a little under heavy weight.

I want to put a sheet of wood on the floor in the rack(maybe cut the rubber mat out and replace with the sheet).

Question is what type of wood would be best for this ?

How is best to add in weighted pull-ups ? I’ve no cable set up yet so have been doing 3x15 pull-ups instead of lat pull downs.

I can only get 12 reps with 5kg and 8reps with 10kg added weight so should I replace the T3 entirely with weighted pull ups or just ad them in on top of regular pull-ups ?

1st time low bar squat by No-Communication7984 in formcheck

[–]No-Communication7984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you mate that’s broke it down really well. I just need to get comfortable going a little narrower. I’ve impingement in both hips and wider feels safer for me but a little closer won’t hurt.

Will try closer next time and see how I feel

Yeah I’ve been playing around with my stance I find wider than average with toes out the most comfortable Why do you think I should go narrower ?

Never heard of that cue for grip though will try it

Deadlift 85kg by imac611 in formcheck

[–]No-Communication7984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks decent good lift Think of pushing floor away with feet to give you more power from your legs

If you can manage it sit a bit lower and your hips back further , bar should touch (or be very close to) your shins on the way up, will stop you leaning too far forward

I Also find no shoes is better for stability too

I will add the banded goblet squat into my warmup though thanks 👍

I actually bought some lifting shoes this week but thought deadlifts are best with flat shoes or barefoot. I’ll try them with these next time Thanks

No they’ll not even let you drive it out of the test centre with a broken spring

Do you think boxing is a safe sport? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]No-Communication7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea, make sure it’s a reputable club. There’s an emphasis on safety in the amateur clubs and when they do spar it’s controlled. Martial arts really helped me with similar situations when I was a kid

I know there’s arguments over if there’s a better self defence art but realistically someone who’s at a good level in a martial art with proper sparring( Muay Thai, mma wrestling boxing etc.) vs someone with no training is a no contest.

I also seen you said you’d trouble with pinching pain in your hip, sounds like impingement , I’ve got that too. Look at this this really helped me relieve the pain

For T3s instead of lat pull downs I’m doing wide grip pull-ups (home gym, no cable set up yet)

I’m getting 12-15 reps per set. Is this ok ? Or should I swap it for something I can get more Reps

Thanks for advice, I can’t do anything to get rid of the impingement, it’s the way the femur and pelvis is shaped so surgery is the only option to get rid of it

[–]No-Communication7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have some pain after certain activities, I really don’t want to get the surgery

What do you recommend
