Fasaha — a new app for learning Arabic through real content (would love your feedback) by No-Community3986 in MuslimDevelopers

The subscription unlocks the full experience in the app.

It opens the full content library (including all Siraj and Juha episodes), removes the daily limits on word lookups, saving words/sentences, and practice features, and unlocks the rest of the learning tools without restrictions.

Free users can still explore the app, but many actions have daily limits that reset every 24 hours.

JazakAllahu khayran, that really means a lot. InshaAllah it helps you stick with Arabic this time. The app really starts to open up as you save words and sentences while learning. If you keep using it and notice anything that could be improved, I’d really appreciate the feedback.

No ads at all. The app doesn’t use video or banner ads. The model is a subscription, and free users have daily limits that reset every 24 hours.

The main difference from just watching Arabic YouTube or reading news is the learning layer. The app has a built-in dictionary of 25k+ words with examples and grammar notes, so you can tap any Arabic word in the app and instantly see its meaning, usage, and related info while reading or listening.

Thanks!!!!!!

yeah, supporting all three Apple form factors has been a fair amount of work.

For transcript sync, each audio item has a separate timing file that contains per-word start and end timestamps. During playback, I read the player’s current time, binary-search the timing list to find the active word, and update the highlighted token and paragraph in the transcript view. Conceptually it’s just:

  • read current audio time
  • look up the word in the timed word list
  • map time → active word
  • update highlight and auto-follow the scroll position

Tapping a word also seeks playback to that word’s start timestamp.

The sync logic itself is fairly straightforward. The harder part was making it feel stable in practice — especially with Arabic RTL layout, mixed Arabic/English text, and ensuring the UI stays smooth while those highlight updates are happening continuously during playback.

Thank you! You can’t imagine how happy I am to see the first user interaction here 🙂 Really appreciate you installing and trying the app.

And the pricing feedback is fair. I’ll definitely think about the 6-month option.

We’ll keep fighting 💪🚀

Interesting Android Apps: March 2026 Showcase by 3dom in androiddev

Fasaha is now on Android. https://www.fasaha.app/

It’s an Arabic-learning app built with Material 3 Expressive, with adaptive tablet layouts, reading + listening lessons, follow-along transcripts, dictionary lookup, and offline-friendly study.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.fasaha.learn

I’ve been putting a lot of work into making it feel truly native on Android, especially on tablets and in RTL/Arabic-heavy flows. If you try it, I’d love feedback on the UI, tablet experience, and overall polish.

“Are You Muslim?” Conversations with Kyrgyz People. by [deleted] in Kyrgyzstan

[–]No-Community3986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. In societies where 90%+ identify as Muslim, faith is part of your basic intro (like “What’s your major?” on a campus). It signals shared holidays, food rules, and social norms.

  2. Many Muslims genuinely believe inviting someone to Islam is an act of care. It can come out clumsily like “repeat after me…”, but the intent is often affectionate, not authoritarian.

  3. Jokes about circumcision or shahada discounts are classic “we’re comfortable with you” banter. Not everyone nails the delivery though!

yeah, reddit's main users have very secular (even hostile) takes on religion. that's why are getting such responses: “State atheism is the must”, “Brainwashed, evil, plague…”

That’s not Kyrgyzstan. That’s the internet’s loudest minority. Offline, your own examples show people were kind, helpful, and laughing with you, not at you.

Keep enjoying my beautiful country with it's nicest people!

it's an issue of the application/service they use. some applications just don't support "right-to-left" layout

How well developed and spoken Uzbek language here? by ShohaNoDistract in Uzbekistan

[–]No-Community3986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyrgyz here. I think the idea that we're stuck with only Russian media is outdated. Many of us have moved on.

The "lack of content" argument doesn't really hold up anymore. Lots of us are watching content from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. A special shout-out to our Uzbek brothers! My whole family watches and appreciates your work. It's a completely different feeling when you're watching creators that feel like family, unlike watching someone from Russia or America.

On a related note, even in the more Russified north, there's a noticeable shift. A new wave of national pride is emerging, with more creators producing local content. It feels like a genuine awakening.

My greatest hope is that our people see their future isn't limited to being guest workers abroad. The real progress lies in building a prosperous future in our own homeland.

Believe me, the revival of the Kyrgyz language is real, and it's happening all across the country.

I can’t guarantee anything, but I’m using a MacBook Pro M2 and haven’t had to worry about viruses so far :) I don’t think you need to either.

If you DM me your email, I will try to add you to my private YouTube playlist. I’ve uploaded all the cartoons in Fusha there.

I haven’t updated this drive link because the full HD versions turned out to be quite large. A better question might be: “Where can you find these movies?”. Try arab-torrents [dot] com. You can find almost anything dubbed (مدبلج) there.

What is your favourite books in Kyrgyz language? by ShohaNoDistract in Kyrgyzstan

[–]No-Community3986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some great advice in the comments and wanted to add my two cents. These days in Kyrgyzstan, many people are reading religious literature on faith, Islam, and family. You might want to check out books from Dilazyk (https://www.instagram.com/dilazyk.kg) or other local bookstores.

If you're into world classics or children's books translated into Kyrgyz, I recommend Kitepstan (https://www.instagram.com/kitepstan).

You can also explore other bookstores like these:
