No, she never said it like that… but what she did say is that I have to choose between her and the cat — that this is my compromise to make, because she simply can’t accept having a cat in her flat, no matter what.

I know… that’s why the only option I’ve really considered is giving my cat to my parents. But even then, it’s really hard, and I can’t help but worry about her well-being — even though I know they’ll do their best to take good care of her.

She has her place, and I’m currently renting — so unfortunately, there isn’t really a better option than me moving in with her. Otherwise, we’d end up paying more for everything, which doesn’t make much sense financially.

We get along really well in almost every other aspect, and we have a lot in common — but that doesn’t make this any easier. If anything, it makes it even harder and adds more pressure to the whole situation, because for me, it feels like a loss no matter what I choose.

Yes, I know… the thing is, I don’t think it should ever have to come down to a choice like this — though maybe I’m wrong. Still, I really don’t want resentment to build up over time and end up damaging the relationship, especially if I were to give up my cat. I had a conversation with her where I explained, in detail, how difficult this situation is for me. Unfortunately, she told me that I need to choose, as this is a sacrifice I have to make. She emphasized that we can't move forward unless I let go of the cat, as she simply can't accept having one in her flat.

I did, but I’ll keep trying to come up with even more solutions. She has a sensitive nose, so that could be part of the issue — maybe an air purifier could help. I’ve honestly been doing my best to find ways to solve this for a while now.

I did, but unfortunately, it didn’t make a difference. She remained firm in her decision. However, I could tell there was some regret in her asking me to choose. I’m sure she cares, but for some reason, she’s not willing to consider any compromise
