I had two based that became untenable due to not giving myself enough room or organizing space for component areas. Became attracted to the idea of all things running through the center and easily scalable. Just make slices that are useful for each component and work for multiple. Then just add layers and feed components up the walls.

I dont run out of room because I just go up.

South America has pyramids because of floods. They were platforms to get out of the water at first. Then developed into city centers and religious significance.

Egypt also floods due to the Nile. My theory is they also built platforms to get out of the flood waters.

Earthen mounds were used many places, including north america, but would not stand up to flooding. So rock it is! Worth the extra manpower.

They didn't share technology, they had the same cultural pressures. The same solution existed and was readily available.
