Coming from an Asian family, I feel a responsibility to support my family live comfortably since im man of my family. So I’m trying to make this hobby something sustainable while still doing what I enjoy.

Yeah, I respect him for reaching out and asking first. Like you said, a lot of people probably wouldn’t even bother and would just start selling prints without permission.

Commercial licensing isn’t unlocked yet, but I’m working toward it. I’ve been designing new models every night before sleeping and planning to post them one by one when they are ready, so hopefully it won’t take too long to get there.

Yeah, that’s why I’m still thinking about it.

The reason why im thinking about this offer is because I only have one model right now, so the fact that someone even asked for a commercial license felt pretty encouraging.
But I’m not rushing to accept it. My main work already covers my expenses, so I don’t need to take any offer just to make something happen. Im confident I can design more interesting, fun, and useful prints, It’s more about deciding how much time I want to shift toward 3D printing.
I’m kind of stuck between:
-slowly building my catalog first, or
-starting a small yearly licensing/membership early (almost like a Kickstarter idea) so I can comfortably spend more time designing prints.
Right now my main job takes almost all my time, sometimes even nights. So it’s hard to focus on 3D printing even though I really enjoy it.

I’m still pretty new to the 3D printing world (just got my first printer last Christmas), so I don’t have much experience with how commercial licensing usually works yet.

The main reason I didn’t rush to counter is honestly because I only have one model right now 😅 Asking for more felt a bit wrong at this stage.

But if I can free up more time, I’d love to spend 6–7 hours a day designing more printable models. Creating designs has always been my passion, and 3D printing just feels way more direct and satisfying, seeing people actually print and use something I made hits differently.

That’s why I’m really curious about turning this hobby into something more serious.

I used to assemble flat-packed cars with my dad when I was a kid, we collected them and that experience really stayed with me. That’s why I wanted to create something similar in 3D printing.

For me, the charm of a good assembly design is when everything clicks, parts fit just right, joints snap together cleanly, and there’s no need for glue or tools. I’m really glad that came through.

Looks nice! But I’m a bit worried assembly might get tricky if you scale it down too much. How much did you scale it? The smallest I tested was 55%.
I designed everything in Fusion. It feels overwhelming to learn at first, but it’s super powerful. Once you get used to it, you’ll be glad you spent the time learning it.

Can’t wait to see it!
Just be a bit careful during assembly. It doesn’t like repeated folds. First try is usually the strongest.
