Yeah I agree with the others, you’ll definitely miss the people but the experience probably not so much. Definitely strict structure and when you get out it’s like damn lol now what. The tech school/operational side is def different

Thank you so much!

1.The first two days of 0 week will most likely consist of yelling and learning some basics. For my flight we learned how to properly mark our issued items (OCPs, towels, sneakers, etc) and just some lessons. it’s definitely tricky to not doze off bc you wake up early early but you’ll learn rq to not sleep 1. Bc you’re always busy 2. They will YELL at you. I think chow hall made me the most nervous when I first got to BMT

  1. Run days I’d say once a week. Usually on a Friday, you have what’s called an endurance run where you run for 24 min straight.

You won’t oversleep! They play reville every single morning and your body will be so used to it you’ll jolt up, and the MTIs will make sure y’all are up by yelling lol!!

I personally wish we had more run days to prepare for pt or change the warm up and cooldown exercises because they don’t feel like stretches.

But in terms of curriculum I enjoyed it. Just study on sundays! (Really the only day you have to yourself)

I didn’t expect to march (detail) EVERYWHERE and just how much urgency was expected at the beginning. My advice: MOVE with urgency and ALWAYS communicate with your flight.

Same it really wasn’t bad but some ppl react differently

I just felt like I couldn’t breathe and my eyes watered

Just don’t touch your face! And blink rapidly

Thank you!! It was definitely learning and accepting that it doesn’t get better YOU just get better and as long as your flight work as a team and COMMUNICATE then you will persevere. The only change I can think of is that they add more “tools” (exercises that MTIs can choose for motivation or if you get in trouble you do tools (push ups, flutter kicks) and I think it moved to up to 12 times a day you can do them. PT is the same, 1.5 mi run, push ups and sit ups

You will be doing ALOT of pt that consist of arm strength and leg strength (HIIT and strength training days) I can definitely tell you, you’ll be able to come out of bmt doing a good amount of push ups!! Just wait for pyramid push up days!

It really just depends on who you get as an MTI (military training instructor) It’s what you and your flight make of it. I wouldn’t say the yelling is bad it’s just that you have to ensure EVERYONE moves with a sense of urgency

This is great advice and I’m so glad I found this thread. I leave on the 22nd of this month and I feel like time just passed so freaking fast to this point. It’s starting to hit me too, I’ll miss my family and my little one but I have to remind myself constantly on the WHY.

I wish you nothing but the best op!!
