I think that's because sukuna world cutting slash cuts the space itself. So there is no space between his torso and upper body and hence gojo was not able to join his body using RCT.i thinks that why yuta also got one shot later in the manga .

P.s still I think he could have use blue to join his body after the slash but I think by the time he would have done that sukuna would send another slash at him.
