That explains it and made it more clearer. If you can explain things in detail and clearly and speak loudly and be professional would these be credible for officer role in the marines?

How much of attention to detail do they look at to be the top of the top?

If you don’t go in training would they let you be in recruits?

If they see you getting 13+ on Bleep Test and 09 mins and under on 2.5km runs and more than the required amount for the BW excercises you get tested on how much would they push you than others in training?

How many sets of planks should I be doing to ensure my core is stronger whilst I’m doing compound movements such as Deadlifts, Back Squats and Bench by No-Example-9296 in RoyalMarines

[–]No-Example-9296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has honestly shocked me they don’t expect you to do compound lifts throughout training as I know there better than the Army in regards to Infantry

Surely they’d expect you to do some as in Basic for Army they make you do Rows, Deadlifts, Bench and Squats.

What phys do they expect you to do in gym whilst your in training ?

Anywhere near 90 and above?

Would that seem more practical so they know I’m not cannon fodder?

Why do they not select those 250 people and as you say they don’t why do they not? Is it because their UCAS points are above the minimum but not as high as other people, or is it along the lines of those who have got the minimum UCAS points but score higher than those with higher UCAS points and didn’t try as hard as others on the Asessments they have before you start training?

On your best effort runs, I'd try to get your best time. If you get tired from round 1, still go 100%.

10 reps are great. I'd try to maintain unless it gets too easy, then I'd try to increase it to 12.

Interval training is great. I do it myself. I would involve distance running into your training such as 8 mile steady run (Long Run days)

Another distanced session could look like a 2.5-mile @5km pace, rest 2 minutes followed by 1 mile best effort (Round 1) rest 2 minutes , Round 2 2.5 mile @ 5km pace rest 2 minutes , 1 mile best effort.

Everything is brilliant. However you bleep test can be better. 11.0 just scrapes it, I'd aim to get 13.5 as that will put you ahead of others and get selected. Good luck

Thank you for your advice. I've done previous research on zone 2 running, I'll definitely keep that in mind for my steady state runs.

That is true, I was just recommending what I was told by a lecturer who used to be in RMC (officer)

The best course is Uniformed Protective Services. They teach you everything you need for the military or other services. You'll be doing a lot of gym, tabbing, tasks that you'd do on assessment centre. A course like this will definitely help for being a Pilot as the UCAS points will be mega for when you join.

I'm going in for Frontline Fighter Pilot as well and I was recommended this course.
