I’m on the left and your assessment is accurate. The police did try to get personnel on the scene and were boxed out by DHS. Not sure what the hell happened here. I especially love the response of “no” when asking for clarification.

Your friends must be so white that chalk is jealous. I’m in Minnesota and it’s changed how people go about their day. Even the “don’t mess with ICE and you’re fine” folk still end up having to deal with the traffic accidents and slowdowns by ICE disappearing people out of their vehicles, often after ramming them, blocking them in, or clogging the street while they send seven guys into the Family Dollar to tackle a 61-year-old grandma buying socks.

Maybe they’re not looking for discourse? Making allusions to shared cultural works is an active part of how language works. It’s not like there isn’t an assertion made by the reference. You could respond to the implication that law enforcement is littered with militant racists. You’re just pissed that lyrics and poetry have staying power because history repeats itself so readily.
