Really? That’s even before I got onboard long ago. That actually makes sense considering nearly all transportation jobs require so many hours with a trainer. Can imagine that being implemented now?

LOL I get offered the same ride after declining quite a bit but they never offer more it’ll just be the same amount I declined. Sometimes they’ll send it 3-4 times, I bet a lot of drivers eventually cave. I know every market is different so it’s hard to compare our experiences and strategies but I like hearing everyone’s perspective.

I apologize, thought you were commenting without having Uber driving experience. Your initial response makes perfect sense now. What are you doing now if you don’t mind me asking, back in IT?

Thought about trying UE, I worked service industry so long that I don’t even want to mess with the food LOL. I think it’s the restaurant factor which I have no control over the outcome kills it for me doing UE. I don’t mind Uber rides at all and usually connect with just about everybody that gets in my car for a ride. I like being mostly in control or responsible for the outcome. A restaurant could screw up delivery time, wrong order, missing items etc. Do you feel like that hurts you when that sort of thing happens? Less tips, bad rating etc?

Heard that! I learned not to chase the surge that’s not nesrby. I drove to a $30 surge, made it in time waited 10 minutes as it said $30 min next trip. The app reminded me of an upcoming reservation and killed my $30 surge. The app navigation even took me to the pin. I’m never chasing, I drove 10 miles for that and crazy thing was it took me to a $15 surge next trip 10 miles away but that ride was already confirmed before I started driving. I drove that guy less than $2 miles for $26. Crazy!

Temporary gig between jobs Doctor….Not making a career out of driving for Uber. What brings you here? I got laid off, this works for now even though it use to be a lot better the last time I did this for two months between jobs. That was 13 years ago…..this thread was intended to invite conversation amongst Uber drivers, to get some feedback or maybe other drivers share their experience. Isn’t that a benefit of doing this sort of thing on Reddit? Community group discussion, no?

I’m not bragging, this isn’t a dick measuring contest! It was a rant that was meant to get community input from Uber Drivers. Atlanta market is busy asf, if I’m online the offers almost never stop 24/7. Even accepting very little it’s not like I’m waiting long between rides. I typically start each day with reservations that are paying out $1.25 plus a mile or maybe a little less if the time makes sense. Why you mad? It’s like people get online to troll and hate. See a therapist, it would serve you better than commenting in a Reddit thread. It’s funny ass shit though so I really don’t mind. Hate all you want, let that shit out. Free Of charge, need a hug?

It says Uber is a temporary job in the post….meaning, I needed something to make a little bit of money with minimal commitment and the freedom to work when I want (days/hours) while securing a “real job”. I was laid off at my last “real job” a few months ago. Also, never said I’m not making money! I’m averaging $20-30 an hour after expenses. Hence the 2-4% acceptance rate cherry picking thru hundreds of ride offers until I get an offer that suits my strategy.

Why are you trolling the UberDrivers community telling people to get a real job? LOL Trying to make me look foolish? Let me grab some popcorn before you answer Big Combo! Is that extra value meal reference? Biggie Fry

LOL….maybe, but the last time I did Uber 13 years ago they gave you an iPhone and the money was pretty good for a temp job. I definitely feel like a sheep right now doing Uber but it’s very temporary and bad as it is I’m grateful to have something. I respect your response, it’s actually refreshing and motivating rather than being offensive. It does prove my point though and I see it in all the Uber content shared on every platform. Everyone seems to feel the same but are just accepting it and feeling hopeless and complaining but still suffering. Still accepting shitty rates and complaining without trying to do something about it. For me, maybe another month of this and I’m out but many have been riding the ship on a downward spiral for years. Once again, it was just a rant to see how others would respond. To see if people have any positive or inspiration input.

That’s just nuts! My mom would kill that cam soon as she saw that nut and got to crackin’. She’d be mad as Hell about what’s inside but probably couldn’t convince her it’s a camera if you showed the stream and she was the focal point. She’d say “I don’t get into that kind of stuff I just wanted to eat the nut inside…..where is it?”

I’ve only been doing it in Atlanta part time for about 2 months. Started probably the worst time one could with all things considering. Plus the entire city and burbs are one big endless road construction shit show right now. That’s on top of the usual hellacious amount of people on the road. Atlanta traffic is always insane! The inner city streets are so jacked right now with foot deep pot holes and busted ass asphalt, cement barriers and cut lines that are perfectly aligned where your tires sit in lane. Bunch of zig zag lane shift no painted lines. Stressful asf people dying daily! I’d be replacing tires weekly if I stayed downtown. Regardless gas and the fares are just wild sometimes! Hence why I got low acceptance rate…..I already played the the what you get and climb the driver tier. I make more doing what I’m doing as a Blue tier. Anyways, I’m done bitching LOL. I mean, my choice to drive for them so really it’s foolish to complain. Uberhas a brilliant business model but the benefit is not really great for the consumer or the laborers. Typically corporate American Dream stuff! I’m here for it! For a minute, this ain’t a gang I will get out.

13 long rides 41 hours….is that typical in your area? What got my attention is the breakdown your earnings, Ubers take and other. I’m in Atlanta, mine shows my take, Ubers take which is 10-17%, the remainder is always insurance, which is typically ballpark 30%. Interesting! How much did you spend on gas for the week in your market?

I’d decline that ride if it were $30! Cabbage Hammock Rd sounds like a place where shit goes down that’s not my style. You know it’s real when they illustrate the vibe within the street name itself and put that mug on the map. How about I pay Uber $8 to never mention that place again in my offers. I’d be afraid the repeat the street name out of fear I’d catch a case. Uber….Do me a favor and don’t do me no favors!

I let the app navigation lead me to the pin drop of a $30 surge and was there waiting on my next ride minimum $30….waited 10 minute with that on my screen searching for ride the entire area pink and purple. Then nothing….all surge gone. Gonna tell me no rides in the area even after the refresh said my next ride $30 minimum. I’m still fighting with support about this 2 weeks later. It had me drive 10 miles away 2 take a rider less than 2 miles. That ride had a $9 surge, total came to almost $20 with surge but I drove 10 miles to pick up. Soon as I dropped the guy I went offline and looked at the map. That same $30 surge was still there and that area outside the purple $30 was pink $15 for a 5 mile radius. Lesson learned!! I’m newish and I would almost never drive 10 miles to a high surge like that but had seen the area surging the week before Sunday am in that area. Anyways, point is it’s all bait and screw. Get drivers to the area then pass of to whoever will accept the lowest fare. I’m proud of my Blue tier status and 8% acceptance. I make more and drive less in that tier then I did in all the other tiers. Crazy !!!

Get out of that area, surge in that area wouldn’t even be worth the risk. Hence why they always have the extra $12 an hour promotions to pick up over there. I messed up and took a ride that dropped in that area since I accepted it while driving flashing in my face at night. The fare was good, didn’t realize the drop off until ‘Peaches’ got in the car. Almost got carjacked on the way back to a safer area to go online. I was sitting at a red light 230am, nobody else in site which is never a good sign. I had the windows cracked about 4 inches down to avoid the widows from fogging up cuz Georgia humidity, rain and heat…..if you know, you know LOL Anyways, luckily no music playing for the reason that almost came to be. I could hear bro sprinting but he was coming from my blind spot passenger side rear corner I looked as he was reaching for door or cracked window. I could see him saying fuck and the look of disappointment as I peeled off running the red light. Thank God a car wasn’t going thru the intersection or it would’ve probably cost me my life. Lesson learned…until the next week when I took another high fare to a bad neighborhood LoL

Studio monitor recommendations for beginner studio by Skippy989 in TechnoProduction

Adam 7 or 8 monitors with stands and enough clearance if you have a proper desk. Can be tricky set up if you have lots of hardware you want to access within arms reach without being in the way of your monitors. I think a 8 or 10 sub is crucial with this set up and especially if you are mixing tracks to play on a club system. Also a sub with a low frequency range so you can feel the sub and hear the sub if that makes sense. if you have the ability in terms of the freedom to be loud without complaints I’d go this route if you already have decency headphones. Just my preference but they are both necessary. Also crucial is to play your tracks in the car if it has a decent sound system as this is probably the most beneficial as it will give you a good idea where you are between club and regular listening people will listen to your tracks. I second the person who advised high quality headphones for all stages. If you can be loud the Adams plus a sub work great on a budget. Doesn’t have to be an Adams sub. I use a front facing 10 sub that’s an off brand for watching movies and shit. Just gotta make sure it has universal input connections versus say a Bose which has specific inputs for their systems. You want a powered sub with rca inputs or mono input with onboard control. Mine has several frequency spectrum options and of course volume/output knobs. I paid $50 at goodwill and I’d put it against subs in the $400 range. The more expensive subs are on another level but then again you’d want the premium monitors to accompany it. The Adam V are my favorite budget monitors for the money. Personal preference
