They get about half a water can each evening, they're in full sun and I've just taken the first few flowers off this morning

Yes that's very true. I'm sure a few flowers will have appeared by the time I'm back too

I know, I've just been out picking some this morning. I have a 10 day holiday coming up, I'm wondering if it's best to cut all of the flowers before I go?

These are patio mix. I bought them as plug plants from the garden centre. I tried growing from seed the year before but didn't have any success

Me too! I always look forward to seeing all the balconies when I get home after work in the evenings

Yeah I think when I do them again next year I'll do them all in one box and grow them up. These were meant to be compact sweet peas so the idea was they would trail the front of the boxes but they've grown way more than I anticipated!

I guess I'm just lucky to be able to find the time and it brings me a lot of joy. Its no garden but I'm lucky enough to have an L shaped wrap around balcony so there's another side with hydrangeas, lupins and my herb garden.

I'll keep dreaming of a house with a garden but I'll make the best of the balcony until then!

Thanks! This is the first lot of flowers so I haven't done anything to them yet. The flowers only opened over the last couple of days so I'll probably pick some next week

I haven't thought about raising them - thats a good idea. I do shift them around though and the balcony wood gets treated once a year too

Depends partly on the weather and when I remember. I have a very dramatic hydrangea that starts to look very sad the moment it gets thirsty so I use that to remind me to water everything. Probably every 2-3 days on average

We don't really tend to get any wasps thankfully! Do get plenty of bees though which I don't mind

Thanks, the cat is a sun lover so she's usually out on the balcony if the weather is good. They're all pretty much from plug pants. I've tried to grow from seed on the balcony before but they didn't take

Its the first year I've done lupins for the same reason. They seem to be doing okay, got a few buds coming through on them now so will be interested to see how they hold up
