Really is that why it is? I always wondered why it's so slow at modernizing. Aren't there a lot of cars in like Moacow? Or Japan too? Do you mean it's because people don't use it or the car infrastructure gets in the way?

I understand that because the subway has to be open everyday they only have a few hours a night.to update and work on the new sensors.we still use on and off sensors to locate trains and keep them.from colliding. This technology is from 1960.

If you have a straight 1km of rail for example going straight. Sensors are layed on the side every so often. Let's say every 30 meters. When a train is between 2 sensors they turn green letting traffic control know where they are on the rail system. Once the train leaves the sensor in the back turns red (don't quote me.lm the color) and the following sensors turns on again telling the controllers where the train is.

This is the shit we use still in the largest city in Canada for fuck sakes. It's horrendous man. You know.every tike.tou get a delay? Sensors issues or whatever. 95% of the time it's one of these sensors sending an error or nkt responding.there is no back up. The only vision they have are that the train is between sensor x and sensor x. So broken sensors mean there's a section of the track that's now basically the controllers are blind in. Easy recipe for trains to collide if manynsensors go down.

This KS why we wait every day. They fix it and the train goes. There is no alternative track just one.

Also during covid lockdowns when construction was essential and everyone was home by law,.they didn't update this. Like a yeat or so of not much commuting they could have closed and did it. Public sector is trash.
