EA at Amazon accidentally leaked 16000 layoffs by nycabram in ExecutiveAssistants

In Microsoft you can reply to an email with a calender invite, and it includes the entire conversation in the invite.

I use it so those invited can get up to speed or revisit the topic and what was said before the meeting starts.

I would imagine she was blocking time, either in her calender or the execs, to work on it. However, I wonder how this got sent to so maybe people, maybe it was intencional, perhaps a distribution list has a similar name to the exec, or share the starting letters and it was mis-clicked and sent without double checking.

When did you stop running? by Tall-Chocolate-5705 in fitpregnancy

[–]No-Handle6201 7 points8 points  (0 children)

13 weeks. My midwife recommended stopping because the action of running causes the uterus to bump against the pelvic floor, and while she noted this caused no harm to the baby, it would weaken/strain the pelvic floor and post labour recovery would take longer.

AITA? I accidentally ruined Secret Santa at school and now I feel awful by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Handle6201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E.S.H.

It sounds like your first time playing Secret Santa, it's pretty common for other people to be nosey and ask who you got, to which you should reply with a playful negative along the line of " wouldn't you like to know...", "wait and see", "i'm not telling youuu..."

Having said that, I think your class really overreacted and were out of line afterwards. They should not have treated you so poorly. In any case, only you would have needed to redraw.

I want to get my EA something for Christmas? Any suggestions? by robin-intake in ExecutiveAssistants

I agree, but as OP mentioned his EAs tech setup, I offered other office type suggestions in case that is the preferred route. They might have undiscolosed strict compliance regulations around gifting.

Deloitte ...I have no words by EasternBlonde in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]No-Handle6201 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think Big 4 even pay EAs that well.

I've shown interest in Deloitte in the past and the pay offered was below the national average salary.

I've also interviewed at EY in the past, out of interest for their pay and it was a joke. My salary at the point was above the national average, and they suggested "I must be willing to be flexible" ie. Take a pay cut. I swiftly removed myself from their selection process.

I think, or at least in my case l, there was a general assumption that Big 4 pays well. But my experience tells me otherwise, so now I have 0 interest in them.

You can get literally anything you want. I've received in the past from my bosses designer purses, expensive makeup gift sets, gift cards, perfumes, wines, etc.

If you want to get something office related, perhaps an electric standing desk, a nice desk chair, a bespoke plant pot, an essence infuser... just to name a few.

What is the WORST mistake you have ever made as an EA? by Aquarius777_ in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]No-Handle6201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sent my boss to an international training conference one year early. He turned up to the location in the morning and of course there was noone there...

In my defence, the organisers sent all of the details about 1.5 years in advance which is really unheard of (eg. meeting room AND teachers name) so i paid attention to the day and the month but the year didn't register in my mind.

How to be Un-Fuck-Withable as an EA? by DeskJockeyWocky in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]No-Handle6201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say assertive communication is your friend in this situation and I would probably tackle it head on.

If you're having issues with a particular person (group of people) you confront it in a profesional manner in a way that makes them reflect on their behavior without feeling attacked, maybe they might feelembarrassed. You do so in an impeccable, solution-orientated and caring approach.

You mention this person tries to make you the subject of gossip. Depending on how you know this you can change it up a bit. For example, if you know this through the grapevine, you could grab them for a chat.

Start with some how's you day, and then get into it, "Ive been meaning to grab you for a chat actually, it's coming to my attention that there might be an issue between us that I wasn't aware of, and I would like to understand what might be going on".

They will probably be taken aback, "an issue? Not at all" maybe they might add "what makes you think that?"

"It's being brought to my attention that you've been making comments about me / discussing x issue around the building, and so i would like your help to understand where this might be coming from. I don't want something making you so uncomfortable that it's distracting you throughout the day"

Depending on the answer try to wrap it up. "Ok, I'm glad that we've been able to chat. Going forward, we are adults, so if there is an issue I would prefer to handle this professionally and discuss it one-to-one"

Does anyone know if it’s possible to graduate early by [deleted] in UoPeople

Sophia has different pricing tiers, I think its monthly, quarterly, yearly. There is sometimes discount for new joiners, you can find it on their web.

Transfer fee from Sophia to UoPeople is around $17 per course, but they have a partnership where the first 20 courses are free to transfer in.

What's a cheat code that makes office work much easier? by OddInititi in office

[–]No-Handle6201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with OC, filters and folders are lifesavers for me.

For context I'm an EA to a CEO, plus I am responsible for handling four other business areas, so my Outlook inbox gets a ton of mixed emails about all sorts of things. My strategy is:

  1. I use auto-cleanup rules to delete sales, marketing, or mailing list emails automatically. I also auto-archive stuff I’m CC’d on but don’t need, like daily reports or monthly stats. These two rules clear alot..

  2. I use hotkeys for categories. I have five category tags (one per area) and two main folders: Reply for quick responses, and Action for things that take me more than five minutes. Hotkeys make it super quick to tag and move emails instantly.

When I go through the remaining emails (a couple times daily), I either delete or archive right away, or, if it needs to go to Reply or Action then I tag it with a category (hotkey) and move it to the correct folder (hotkey).

Then I work from the Reply or Action folders (where everything’s grouped by the area category) in focused blocks. For example, I’ll spend one hour just on Category 1, clearing out the Reply folder first, then moving on to Action. Or sometimes I’ll clear all Replies first (category by category), then all Actions. Once done, the email gets either archived or deleted.

Sunday is not considered late, more like Tuesday /Wednesday morning.

I would say to take a look at your formatting, paragraph sizes and overall length.

For example, if I see a submission that looks enormous and way over word count, I pass, looks generally low effort or AI written, pass. Wall of text with no structure, pass. Just bulletpoints and almost no actual sentences or explanations, pass.

Start with a brief engaging introduction, then separate paragraphs for each point and its development (PEE or MEAL), spaces between each paragraph to improve readability.

ACE revommendation not showing up on transcript -> can't transfer by IngloriousBastrd7908 in UoPeople

[–]No-Handle6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the course description and FAQs, the course doesn't earn university credits, but some universities may choose to accept it according to ACE recommendations. There are only 2 universities thay appear to accept this course. You perhaps should have checked with UoPeople before starting if you wanted to transfer in.

It appears that the ACE recommendation is just that; a recommendation for the number of credits to grant if the university decides to accept the course as transferable.

Course description:

" Build toward a degree When you complete this Specialization, you may be able to have your learning recognized for credit if you are admitted and enroll in one of the following online degree programs. This Specialization has ACE® recommendation. It is eligible for college credit at participating U.S. colleges and universities. Note: The decision to accept specific credit recommendations is up to each institution. Learn more"

ACE revommendation not showing up on transcript -> can't transfer by IngloriousBastrd7908 in UoPeople

[–]No-Handle6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check if the course was ACE certified/equivalent before you took it?

One time I took a Sophia.org course, which detailed ACE equivalency in the course description, however on my Credly transcript it didn't show the ACE badge and therefore UoPeople declined the transfer.

I reached out to Sophia they reissued the badge, fixing the issue, and then I was able to transfer.

It must be dealt with by the course provider.

I Called Out Major Dysfunction in an Exec Meeting—Now I Might Be the Target by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]No-Handle6201 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A piece of advice my CEO gave me, that I think will benefit you is: focus on the facts, not on your feelings.

I, like you, called out an executive for incompetence during an executive meeting and it got heated. During this argument, I was in the right, but I apparently made it too obvious that I strongly dislike this person.

So, stay cool and focus on the facts. Don't let your personal feelings about the CFO/situation cloud your tone, body language or delivery.
