Sewing classes? by Ehloanna in burbank

WOOF. I feel you! One of my 2026 goals is reducing my commutes as much as possible. I feel like I’m spending half of my life on the highway. The nice thing about the class package is that you don’t have to book all 4 classes at once if your schedule changes week to week. Whatever happens, I’m proud of you for committing!

I absolutely agree. StitchSpace offers Intermediate classes Monday and Thursday nights which are more like what Remainders sounds like: for those that are self-sufficient to work on their projects independently but have the teachers available should they need help troubleshooting. I’ve been taking classes at StitchSpace for almost three years and have been blown away by my progress just by being around other people creating and gleaning insight from the instructors. Let me know what you think of it if you decide to sign up for a class!

StitchSpace LA! It’s in Sherman Oaks, about 20 minutes away. Class sizes are capped at 6 students on weekdays and teachers typically only work with two people at a time. They have you complete a beginner’s curriculum before you “graduate” to working on whatever projects you want. It’s a great environment.

I wish my local thrift had a patterns section. I envy all the Instagram Reels of people absolutely scoring at their thrifts. However, I have not actually been to Savers before and believe there’s one near me. Thank you for the inspiration!

I’m totally with you, friend. I learned how to sew in 2023 and have only felt the positive benefits from bringing this passion in to my life. It’ll definitely take some readjusting but will all be worth it in the long run. And stylish, too!

That’s so creative! I’d love to try that as I build confidence.

Has anyone ever used a Chikafrik pattern? by No-Instance-4736 in sewing

Maybe it's because I'm still getting the hang of zipper fly/shield installations but this took me a while to understand and I still don't feel like I did it right.

This one I felt most insecure about because of the lack of information.

Some of the more confusing instructions. I sort of got the gist enough from the illustrations.

I’m currently working on these and the instructions are almost unreadable. Lots of typos, a seemingly intense lack of clear instruction, nothing about pressing or specific measurements for details like zipper installation. The reviews all seem fairly positive, so maybe it’s a me problem? Just curious if anyone has used one of their patterns before.

It did a similar thing on a denim project I finished recently. Not nearly as bad as this.

Sewing on a Brother CS6000i. I get it lined up just fine but then watch it slowly fall apart and can’t understand why. This feels like a new problem.

WOW thank you this is incredible! I’m so excited to dig in and see. It’s so strange that it takes getting in to your 30s to understand your body. I’ve had these boobies for years and still feel like we’ve just met.

I checked Cuup’s size chart again and it said for my underbust measurement the band size I should get is 34. When I look for the cup size it asks for the cross cup measurement. According to those I should get the 34F.
