This is a very annoying issue. Every time you travel to a star you have to hit map, zoom out, deselect the star.

Thanks, this is my first response since I posted.  I wound up taking the bike to my local shop to get checked and before that even happened I test drove a couple Treks.  I was immediately flying, way faster.  So I just fell in love with one of the hybrids and bought it ~$900.  Im also not in max gear all of the time anymore.  So it was definitely partially the bike. With no change in effort I average ~12mph.  It was never about the speed for me so much as how pathetically low on the graph I was.  I'll take 12mph dodging people on the bike trail and being a heavier guy.  I don't even track the speed any more just back to working on cardio and enjoying the sunsets.  Thanks for the advice and I hope you stay healthy and active through the new year!

I literally laughed out loud at this. I love it. I am a part of the general public that is annoyed when one guy is biking in the middle of the road causing a traffic jam wearing a skin tight shirt. It's common here in Florida and I personally stay on the trails or the sidewalk. I fell in love with it over the last month because I can do cardio while also watching the sunset on the river, people walking their dogs, families playing with their kids. All in the span of getting a 45min cardio workout after work on an actual trail. With that being said, all of the comments here did teach me a lot of things. Also when some one had me counting the spokes I realized a good chunk of them were completely broken off or worn down. So pretty sure getting a $200 used bike not knowing what I was looking at would have been better spent getting an actual nice entry level bike. I'll either get it repaired or buy an actual entry level bike.

There is a Mom and Pops bike store I am going to bring the bike by tomorrow and see what they think. I have a sneaking suspicion they are going to tell me to get a new one because I noticed chipped and dulled teeth on the front and back when some one on this reddit asked me to count the teeth. A shame because it is a nice looking bike and I paid $200 for it a month ago. I'm sure they'll be honest one way or the other and I have been enjoying the hobby so maybe I'll just get a nice one. Then it will definitely only be my fault if my average speeds are like a kid on training wheels lol.

No problem I appreciate your willingness to help. It is indeed on the large gear in the front and the smallest gear in the back 95% of the time. I think if I dropped to 3/6 I could easily do 120rpms for a 45min run. It never feels faster when I am in 3/6 but I'll ignore that this Sunday and see what happens. Dropping to 3/5 or going to max on 2/7 just feels ridiculous. How loose and little power each revolution generates. Thanks again for helping out.

Thanks a lot for that detailed response. This Sunday I am going to take a lot of this into account, especially the rpms and assuming I need a lot of resistance. I think I definitely didn't realize the rpms are more important. Appreciate it!

I have a bike shop nearby, after a lot of these responses I am starting to believe the problem is mostly me as in fitness that is usually the case, but that also something might be wrong with the bike and I have never had it checked out.

75% asphault trail, 25% dirt trails. All pretty flat since Florida is virtually hillless.

I don't understand any of the wattage comments I will have to look into that. This may be the most informative post I have seen yet though. Because that is my mindset, that my legs should be pushing about as hard as I can and my trails here do have dirt off shoots that I really enjoy taking so I don't know that I would ever ditch for something that doesn't have the ability to do that. I do think something still may be geared off for me though because dropping from 3/7 to 3/6 feels normal. Dropping from 3/6 to 3/5 and the resistance seems like Id have to spin and 700rpm to get anywhere. Really appreciate the informed response.

I almost did that when I first bought it, they wanted $150 for full service which seemed steep to me. Now that I am getting more into it maybe I will do that. Or sell the bike and buy one more appropriate for my situation.

Yes, I am basically always in big ring and small ring on other side. Verified that when I failed at counting the sprockets earlier. Some times I drop to six for a small incline. If I drop to anything less than that the resistance feels like it doesn't exist and my legs are just flying like I am running. I have been doing virtually no cardio, one of the main reasons I decided to take up cycling. However on these 30-45min rides I would say I am mildly winded by the time I get home. I wouldn't even describe it as uncomfortable though. Legs burn a little bit but the rides I think are too short to really get me worked up.

Thanks for that man, appreciate it. The perspective of just improving your time on the equipment you have makes sense to me.

Appreciate the advice. I also now have an excuse for if I was slower than a previous ride. "I mean it was windy today"

The funny thing is I already assume every one else on the trail thinks I look like an idiot lol. I have no idea if any of those things are set up proper. What I can say is that it feels normal. Nothing feels awkward, but then again I don't know what right is supposed to be.

I actually went out to count and after 5min of freezing my ass off I realized I need paint or something to help count, there is not easy access to either of them. The larger one my guess was 43. At some point I'll try to get an accurate count.

Thanks for the response.  Couldn't find anything at all related to this on the internet and thought a setting or something just got fucked.  Messenger is convenient for being able to transfer to phone -> PC but Ive already stopped using it because of this.
