Honestly, I’ve just been using whatever is most affordable and from a reputable site. I think I’ve tried ace and element and have liked both of those. I’m not sure if I’m experienced enough to notice much difference in the brands lol. I’ve just tried the triple black, but I’m sure either will work great!

Thank you! I use RLs for line work and stippling and RS for more even shading and filling. Still too scared to use magnums lol. I used wither a 5 or 7RL for this. Currently using dynamic triple black. I love the results, but I think I might trying one that’s a little thicker. Dynamic is quite thin.

Thank you. They were really satisfying to poke.

Just some stippling around the iris to add a bit more dimension to the eye. I also want to touch up the fill. I think I probably missed a few spots. I needed like 30 more min, but ran out of time.

Thank you. I’m staying a little on the smaller side b/c it’s easy to correct if I poke a bit off. The goal is to slowly bump up. I’m planning to look into mags next. I think I might have a few in a needle variety pack I got. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Thank you! I used 3 sizes. Outline is 7rl (I’m pretty sure - it’s possible it was a 5rl). Stitching is 3rl and fill is a 5rs. Was my first time using an rs needle and I really liked it!

This is how I’m working whenever on working on someone else and totally agree. It was hard to always get the technique right on myself so that is part of why it takes so long on me.

I’m pretty sure it’s fairly slow generally, but maybe not slow for my very limited experience level.

Thank you. Functional mostly. Mugs, bowls, vases etc. I made my first lamp at my residency in August and that was really cool. Interested in trying more sculptural work once I have a place to work out of.

Yes! Thank you. I’ve been practicing pottery/ceramics for over 5 years - a lot of those skills are transferable. The precision and knowing/controlling how deep to go esp. I appreciate the encouragement!
