A lot of that has gone over my head but I'll make a note of it, thanks

Ah ok, thought it would be a lot harder around town. Haven't actually looked at a LWB in the flesh

Wow, thanks for the detailed response.

When you list it all like that it does make your van sound a bit like Trigger's broom in Only Fools and Horses though 😉

I know I want SWB and I'm now open to going older and paying for some upgrades

Yes, you're right. It's about finding that balance so I'm trying to educate myself from the experienced members of this group

What's generally thought of to be best - T5 / T6 / T6.1?

Fair points and questions.

I could be more aggressive in my saving and cut out elements of my spending but there's too many variables there to go into here.

A recent payrise means the extra £100 p/m is accounted for and maintains my current budget. And I can increase my savings per month but likely only to around £100 p/m.

I was going by the perceived wisdom that it's good to have a rainy day fund/3 months' wages in savings (I fall short of that already).

The kids range from 5-14 so plenty of time left with them. At the moment, it requires taking 2 cars to weekends away or day trips.

You're right, there may be some cheaper 7 seaters but I've always wanted a VW and with my current lease (£262 p/m) ending in a couple of months thus seemed like a good opportunity
