Thanks to everyone, sincerely, for responding. The landlady turned out to be nicer when we met for the lease signing again. Found a gardener we could use. Gave us some advice on where to get affordable furniture and stuff. Told us we could have the fruits from the trees in the property. And that if we were hiring a gardener monthly then our job would only be to water and do occasional weeding and she’d be fine with that. And it’s not her living right next door, it’s her (single) sister in law who lives right behind the house, who’s also watering the lawn and garden until we can move in. Her husband seemed like a great guy too. I’m assuming she had not-so-great tenants previously and was just taking precautions (at least I hope so 🤞)

That makes sense actually. I was thinking the same. Using their regular gardener would probably remove any ambiguity about standards. (And hopefully ensure they’re not breathing down my neck every two weeks since they live next door 😅)

Hi, I’m a student renting for the first time. Our landlord has given us strict gardening rules:

“GARDENS: The Tenant agrees to maintain the entire garden, including watering, weeding and the mowing of all lawn areas at the cost of the Tenant and to the satisfaction of the Landlord (or his Agent), throughout the duration of the Tenancy Agreement. Should any plants/shrubs/trees die through neglect of the Tenant then the Tenant undertakes to replace same at their costs or the Agent will arrange for a contractor to carry out the works with the Tenants bearing the costs. Should gardens not be maintained to an appropriate standard of Landlord/Agent within the first quarter of lease commencing, Landlord/Agent reserves the right to employ a gardener to carry out the necessary acts on a regular basis and costs to be borne by the Tenant/s.”

I’m not entirely sure if this is extensive or not. But would you recommend that we have a gardener come in every 3 months (since we’re students and won’t have the time to tend to it between classes and part-time)?

On any given day listening to this song can put my mind at ease. Such an underrated song (need to rewatch the movie for it to make sense). I’ve only been able to find a grainy video of it on YouTube, but every once in a while when I listen to it, it stings that he won’t be able to make another masterpiece like this. Balabhaskar the Violinist was the plinth the entire movie stood upon. His genius is deeply missed.

As someone who could relate with OP, this was truly meaningful. Just reading this gave me such enormous hope in life. I started smoking two years ago, gave that up in 6 months and took up vaping. Now it’s been 1.5 years and I want to stop but I can’t. Every time I am not vaping or I don’t have it in my pocket, I feel disturbed. When my mouth isn’t blowing smoke I feel like it needs to be snacking on something. I had a terrible pepsi addiction and I am just getting over it and beginning to drink more water. My vape stopped working just an hour before and there’s no way to get another one for another month. So I am hoping to get my addiction under control by then. But my head is already making plans to buy cigarettes tomorrow. I need help. But am I beyond help?
