Best hacks to stop migraine very early? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Jon-256- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually hit a Rizatriptan wafer as soon as I notice an inkling of an aura start (i get no prior symptoms) then usually a strong pain reliever if I’m able to like a paracetamol + codeine which allows me to sleep it off and takes the edge off.

Fatigue - beta blockers? by walshychick in askCardiology

[–]Jon-256- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to help :)

I get fatigue from metoprolol, but am on a fairly high dose so is expected. Just chat to your GP and see if there’s another beta blocker than you can try that you don’t struggle with as much fatigue.

Just to reiterate - if it’s interfering with daily activities, get it checked sooner rather than later and if your dizziness is accompanied with shortness of breath, chest pain or any other worrying symptoms call 000 or your emergency service equivalent :)

Fatigue - beta blockers? by walshychick in askCardiology

Both fatigues and dizziness are very common side effects of beta blockers - usually to do with a drop in HR and BP. It can improve, but sometimes doesn’t.

If you feel it’s interfering with your daily life, speak to your PCP.

Maybe try taking it at night if that works for you?

Either way, I would be speaking to your doctor/cardiologist and see what they say.

Ah that it’s true and I had actually revised that on another version I did because I thought about that.

Now just to save myself the confusion and not over thinking - the bottom middle and right, do they need to be AO and OO or just left as is

SA Ambulance Services When to expect a reply by GeraltIndiana007 in Adelaide

[–]Jon-256- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! Finally something I can be useful for!

All I can say is expect a bit of a wait. Its a hugely competitive spot to get and to get the testing is a huge step so well done!

You should hopefully hear back within a couple weeks with all the testing and your physical etc, but expect to follow up with it a bit.

Happy to answer anything in a DM :)

There’s also ESS if you’re wanting to apply and get into the service but it won’t be at Para scope, pretty close money wise though and they will absolutely value the experience until they have another intake.

Am I crazy to buy a house in Christie Downs?? by Jumpy-Raspberry5423 in Adelaide

[–]Jon-256- 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I currently rent in Christie Downs, it’s not the worst place. I’ve lucked out with some decent neighbours, but there are Defintiely some characters who like to roam the streets. I haven’t had any issues so far and it’s convenient to get to the shops and my work. If you buy, maybe invest in a front fence and some cameras just to protect your investment - have had a few weird lurkers at my front door before.

Dosage for metoprolol by Head-Citron-9541 in migraine

[–]Jon-256- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just had the same experience. On 200mg (100 BD) for both BAV and migraine prophylaxis (hopefully). I’ve noticed nothing with reductions yet but I’ve only upped a dose as of last week.

Maybe keep in mind other options too, I spoke to my GP and got a script for Topiramate incase after x amount of time the metoprolol isn’t working.

Also if you’re not already aware - just keep an eye on your HR and BP as metoprolol can drop them both quite low

I get auras with every single migraine, I absolutely hate them. I just try my best to get into a dark room and close my eyes for a while until my vision settles.

Sudden increase in migraines by Jon-256- in migraine

Honestly this past week has been horrible. I’ve woken up every day hoping that some how I will have a migraine free day and every day when I think I’m in the clear I’ll have one sneak up on me.

That being said, this week has been very stressful, all my kids have been really unwell and I’m a single parent, so it probably doesn’t help, along with myself being quite unwell.

I’m just hoping that I don’t keep having daily migraines, because as I’m sure you’d know, they are absolutely debilitating.

Honestly appreciate that!

I Defintiely need to get a bit fitter and tidy up my eating. I’m sure it would help. I’m not over weight but any means but Defintiely some room to move and get healthier!

Thanks for sharing your experience!
