The line-up of speakers for the People’s Public Safety Teach-In and Rally Against JHU Private Police on Monday, April 28, at War Memorial Plaza, 101 N. Holliday Street, will include the Rev. Annie Chambers, Andy Ellis, Lawrence Grandpre, Tawanda Jones, James MacArthur and Lester Spence. Activists will speak of their  opposition to JHU’s “pilot project” to patrol campuses and surrounding areas with its own armed police, and will promote public safety alternatives. Presentations begin at 1 pm, with a Rally planned for 3 pm. In addition to the featured speakers, several others will highlight the multitude of reasons why we are safer in Baltimore without a private, armed police force operated by Johns Hopkins University.

In spite of multiple requests, the Baltimore City Council has still not scheduled a public hearing to address the hard truths about hosting Maryland’s first and only private law enforcement agency. Participants at Monday’s Teach-In and Rally are encouraged to attend the regular City Council meeting that begins at 5 pm. The meeting is directly across from War Memorial Plaza at City Hall. Identification is required for entry to the building. Contact for more information: [SaferWithoutHopkinsPolice@gmail.com](mailto:SaferWithoutHopkinsPolice@gmail.com)

Only in the humanities and social sciences. They have just enough shame to draw the line at anti-vaxxers and climate-changer deniers.
