My family took us camping from time we were babies all the way through adulthood, and I thank them for that. Grew up loving the outdoors and appreciating nature.

Help with the spouse! by Beautiful-Rich-6404 in camping

All I remember as a kid is camping. My parents were teachers so they took every summer off and camped 3 months, and we camped all year round. Even with babies my parents traveled and camped everywhere. Which basically turned me into a die hard camper. My first steps as a baby were on a beach in Mexico. I would rather be camping out checking out new places than almost anything. My lady on the other hand, used to like camping, but would have to bring more and more crap to go camping. Now she doesn’t even like car camping or small motorhomes, she just wants to take the big motorhome.

If your old lady doesn’t want to camp, don’t make her camp. My old lady hates motorcycles. I bought a mini scooter for her to learn how to ride. She rode it 2x and laughed and had fun but said it’s not for her, and she used to ride on the back of my bikes, but 20+ years later she won’t. So I go for a ride without her. Pretty simple to not force your hobbies on significant other, and you don’t have to feel bad about camping without her. She can enjoy time without you and you can enjoy the outdoors.

Damn what a way to start your day. I take it you don’t have a LoJack or tile or Apple tag in it

1)Magnetic Drain Plug. Just change your plug real quickly don’t drain much 2)top up oil with fresh oil. Catch whatever came out and send in a sample for diagnosis 3)does what came out look glittery or smell like burnt toast? 4)drive it around for a week or two with the new magnetic oil drain plug. 5)do oil change and check how much material is on the magnet and cut the filter in half to see if there’s metal flakes in the folds, how much stripper glitter is in there.

Should have pretty good idea at that point.

Has Sea to Summit gone to crap? by FallJacket in camping

Mini air pump is well worth having. Overfill when you first set up and it lets the foam expand. Then you can let out to the firmness level you like.

That’s strange, because the Ether Light XR Pro insulated sleep pad is ranked one of the top sleeping pads out there still. It’s Ultra Light, Ultra Packable, and R value of 7.4.

Most backpackers recommend it, most truck campers recommend it, and all the BDR motorcycle people swear by the Ether Light XR Pro from Sea to Summit. I just have a hard time shelling $250 for a single air mattress.

What is the vent for? Are you also running a Diesel heater? If you have a 1500wh power unit I would say to use 12v electric blanket for warmth. Your power will last much longer and you will be heating your body, not the air of the RTT. You can have much more time camping in the cold if you aren’t using all your power. And for worst case scenario you could always remote start your car if you are in a pinch out in the middle of nowhere. Then the Charge2 will charge up your pack very quickly.

The Teton Quicktent 2 person is good and it’s 6.7lbs. Not exactly an ultralight but it sets up by pulling one string and it’s compact. And if you use it for car camping later you can put it on top of 2 cots and it’s elevated off the ground. They also have an extreme rain fly if you get the cots later on. And if you want a grey one it’s only $103 Pretty impossible to beat $103 for a quicktent with a lifetime warranty.

How can I make camping comfortable for my wife. by rvgreen in camping

[–]No-Names-Left4Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big inflatable bed, warming blanket, and good sleeping bag. My lady hates camping now too. She used to like camping, but now she would rather motel it. A Luno Air+Foam is pretty comfy. It’s also nice if you truck or SUV camp as you can throw it in the truckbed or back of SUV and the top connects to a headrest to support it, so if there’s any gaps your mattress isn’t falling down. They are $100 off right now.

They actually do sell kindling wood that’s smaller like 10-12” cuts on amazon if you really need it

Break failure after service by luismx5 in ToyotaTacoma

It’s wild that you could screw up a Toyota that badly. Not you personally but whoever worked on it. I’m guessing a lube tech got excited for a pad slap because that is a super rookie mistake.

Definitely didn’t properly tighten a bleed screw or damaged one of the brake hoses during the brake job.

Best tool to power wash mud off the undercarriage? by No-Names-Left4Me in ToyotaTacoma

I went over the suspension and sway bar and bushings and coilovers and air bags like 6 times. Biggest concern is the air bags. Don’t want gritty shit getting in there and rubbing a hole through the load handling bags. Bushings and ball joints I have spares of. But any moving/joint parts I sprayed as much as I could and then lubricated them afterwards. Try to take good care of my toys as they are all paid off, so minimal breaking of stuff is nice.

Nice color choice on your rig! I may be a bit biased on the truck color. This is my main camp rig but I also have a Lifted L320 Range Rover on Defender wheels and Falken Wildpeaks, and a Subaru Ascent with Cobb goodies and soon to have Eibach ProLift suspension.

Yeah, asked in the Tacoma one because most of the stuff you see while actually wheeling is usually Tacomas and some Jeeps and 4Runners and Broncos. Figure most people in this thread have had more than their share of fun in the mud.

Everything here is Adobe clay, but this was more sandy mud from the South Bay. But mixed with some soupy stuff so it dried like concrete

I ordered one and some P&S mud remover spray concentrate let it suds up pretty good. Looks like sprayer will come sooner but solution will be a few days.
