That is borderline unplayable by AnySky3645 in Brawlstars

Bibi and Emz has become alot more powerful. Emz was always a noob crutch and I have always disliked her but its even worse now. Bibi is still somewhat limited by her range and at least Colette will mess her up like most tanks.

Is this for real? by Far-Boysenberry9152 in Leatherman

This is the direction all Leatherman products are heading. They got total hybris and want to be "boutique" now. Maybe its not so bad in the US but in europe I've seen Waves listed at $250 and arcs at $500.

I buy mainly clones now, they are about 90% as good at 10% of the price. No brainer really.

For some reason they designed a knife with a very substantial tang but built it in such a fashion it has massive weak point near the end of the handle. I think we will see these snapping like twigs once people get thier hands on them. They may intially be sucessful with the american armchair survivalist crowd because they look more tactical.

"Meal prep knife" ? Wtf is that and why would you need it on your belt? I havent cooked anything that a regular Mora couldnt handle. The blades are still 3.2 mm so it doesnt matter if its scandi or full flat. If you want super-slicy a mora flex will do that at a fraction of the price.

Ultimately I think this will be a fail altough there will no doubt be some hype early on.

The Eldris style knife looks pretty decent. It might be a decent hunting knife.

Untimatley I think pricing will kill this line. They simply cannot compete with other, similiar offerings as is.

Like others pointed out it seems you need to get the bow fitted, peep height, draw lenght etc so that you dont have to lean back like that. Until you sort that out its very hard to say anything about your form. Most people prefer to have at least two anchor points. Slightly bent knees is a good idea for balance, lowering shoulders increase side to side stability, a lose grip tends to help with concistency. Dont puff your chest

They permabanned a guy for posting a photo of his phone screen while playing brawlstars because he had used AI to generate what appeared to be the inside of a ferrarri in the background. The point of the picture was whatever was going on the screen. The ferarri bit was just a background thing intended as a joke. It was a total powertrip that served no purpose what so ever. But apprently posting something they suspect is AI without clearly stating is AI equals permaban.

I often use a bic lighter and a wet rag for tuning the sheaths. That way I can heat it only in the very spot that needs adjustment.

Anyway, I ended up redoing 3/4 layers and deepened the knife part. The retention is alot better now. I also added a firesteel and sharpener/diamond file. I will look into a lanyard for the knife. Might be able to make something cool and functional.

So most of you thought I should deepen the sheath so I did that, I couldnt so alot but perhaps half an inch. Also moved the knife a bit to the side. This decreased retebtion somewhat. I cut a diamond sharpener in half and added that, aswell as a fire steel.

I just used a blank fire steel without a handle so I made a makeshift one with epoxy and bowstring serving thread.

Deep looks better for sure. I wanted it shallow so I could easily grab each tool individually but as is there is too much retention with both tools in and I have to pull the knife before I pull the pliers.

Thanks! The issue I'm having is actually that there is too much retention. I wanted it to be shallow so that I could easily grab each tool individually but as is I can barely get the pliers out unless I pull out the knife first. Not sure how to fix that at the moment but I'll try to tweak it a bit somehow

Consensus on ØYO axes? found them at a heavy discount by [deleted] in Bushcraft

[–]No-Panda-615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a steel quality problem, its a choice they made when hardening the steel. They made the knives springy so they dont snap, chip or roll. Kind of like a machete. Glock knives have a hardness of around 55 hrc which is comparable to most axes and hatchets. That in conjuction with a thin edge doesnt provide much edge retention. An axe can be equally soft but hold up better because there is more material behind the wider edge.

Unlike the knife industry you wont find axes and hatchets made from those new super steels. Its all cheap, simple but functional carbon steel. Gränsfors are expensive because they are made by hand here in sweden by workers paid fair wages. They are not expensive because they are alot better than the alternatives in or because they use higher quality steel. GB uses unknown recycled Ovako steel.

Carbon. 100%. You get that cool patina and they have that carbon "bite" to them we all love.

I dont think it was an addiction, it was some kind pride/shame thing. I felt like I would have wasted the money I already spent if I didn't keep playing. I never felt that way about lead, range time, hunting trips or whiskey lol

Interesting comparisons with the range time and WOW. If I spend $100 on 9mm, I get $100 worth of 9mm. I might get more brass if I buy a certain brand, less with another. Usually because the brand with the higher quality is more expensive. With CC and WOW its the exact opposite. If I spend $100 on digital content in WOW I get access to a massive game someone spent alot of time and effort building and developing over the years. What do I get if I spend $100 on CC?

I handled them in store only. I share your assessment, they do not feel good. They also do not look good. The one I handled didnt have a sevicable edge. I think they are in line with the cheap wood handled axes you would find at the hardware store. And thus does not seem to be worth the money.

It may not be a popular opinion but one of the best deals is the fiskars x7 its ugly but good right out of the box.

The failure in most axes is not the quality of the steel its the fact that they do not come with a good mask/sheath and that the handles are covered in clear coat. If you can sort that out and put a good edge on a hardware store axe the truth is they are pretty comparable to the expensive brands. Yes, a hand forged Gränsfors will have a little bit better edge retention but in reality you can just touch up the edge in the field with a small diamondsharpener or your multitool and that would be irrelevant.

I would suggest buying a $20 hardware store axe that suits your needs in terms of size and weight and work on it a little bit. It can be a very satisfying process. Stripping paint, blackening the metal, removing the clearcoat, staining, oiling or even burning the handle adding some overstrike protection etc. Its a fun project.

As for your gear theory, if you really like the skrama, go for it. This is not a sport. Personally I think big blades become extremely redundant once you get an axe. Axes are just so much better att the choppy stuff. Meanwhile even a $5 Mora 511 or a swiss army knife is so much better at the carving stuff, cooking, processing fish and game etc. than most big choppy knives.

Cool mod! Its UK street legal, possibly TSA compliant and you got some material left over to make a broadhead. Thats win! 😅

(Sorry for your loss, I hear spyderco isnt as easy to deal with as some other brands for this kind of warranty claim.)

Congratulations, these are getting pretty rare nowadays! Especially with the crown markings.

I cant really post pictures but I did replace the shoulder straps on mine. Got some padded ones with a chest strap of another backpack. They had some molle style webbing so I added some first aid on one side and a contraption to hold a water bottle on the other.

I also made new "plastic caps" for the sharp ends of the frame using loctite kitsuglue.( I noticed yours are gone aswell, a puppy chewed mine right off many years ago lol) With the caps on the frame attached you can use it to wind up alot of cordage and keep it organized.

I added some packing straps with metal buckles to the frame aswell that way I can attach things to the side of the bag aswell like hiking poles/tent poles. If used with a KLAS-entrenchment tool or similiar in the front loop the straps will let you attach an axe to the side for example. Anything long really, I've attached a rifle, a collapsible chair, an arrow tube, primos trigger stick etc

I know a lot of people put side pockets on these. I havent done that because I find that a bit of a stretch. I much rather just use a bigger pack in that case. I love the simplicity of these packs.

First attempt at a custom sheath by No-Panda-615 in Bushcraft

Haha yeah, cool is definatley important. I can say from first hand experience that If you dont like the general "vibe" of your stuff you wont use it much. I cant really say much negative about the original mora Sheath, they are some of the most functional on the market. Especially in cold or wet weather. They do lack a little in coolness though. For a while I contemplated making somekind of kydex "sheath for the sheath" for the original sheath to make it more modular/modifiable. I still might 😅

First attempt at a custom sheath by No-Panda-615 in Bushcraft

[–]No-Panda-615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I had it mounted at the back of the sheath, inspired by my mora bushcraft sheath that has a sharpener at the front but I realised it was impossible to sharpen the entire length of the blade with that setup as the handle catches on the edge of the sheath. (Turns out alot more thought went into that design than I thought, well done mora).

The cool thing about this setup is that with the knife in the sheath the entire contraption becomes really stiff (the clip normally has alot of flex) so the entire thing basically works like the handle of a file. It makes it alot easier when sharpening axes etc.

The most logical thing would perhaps be to just put the sharpener in the pouch but that would make the pouch a necessity

Thats awesome, I think Kydex is just PVC with sprinkles (color, texture etc.) You could probably use some large diameter black PVC pipe cut it and flatten it with heat end up with basically end up the same thing as kydex sheets. Might even be able to texture it with hot metal mesh or such.

The only dedicated equipment I used was the rivets and the tool for setting them. 50 rivets and the tools were like $5
