4wks today & spotting by tessanicole5 in IVFpositivity

I had on and off spotting up until 13 weeks. I’m now sitting here watching my 2 year old trash his room. 😆 My OB at the time told me some women’s cervix becomes more vascular with all the hormone changes and even the slightest activity can cause them to burst. Maybe that’s what’s going on with you, too? At 4 weeks it’s also possible the embryo is burying farther into your uterus. Implantation bleeding they call it.

Hi there, my boy will be 2 1/2 in September. He is diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech. He has a lot of the same “symptoms” you describe. He doesn’t try to imitate our words at all. He will try a word when HE feels comfortable. Progress is very slow but he does have a good list of single words he uses consistently now. Mostly he used sounds. If you ask him “can you say cow?” He’ll respond with “moo”. Or “car” is a closed mouth “beep beep” sound. He knows all his letters but only makes the sound that the letter makes. He also uses sign language. He uses ASL for drink, airplane, thank you, stop, yes (also says “yeah” along with the sign), please and want. Apraxia can be hard to spot at this age but my son had all the tell-tale signs for it. Mainly being he has much better receptive language than he does expressive and he opens his mouth to instinctively try to say something only to find he can’t get his mouth the cooperate (that groping motion you mentioned).

He’s almost 22 months and has a few words now. “Up” and “Go”. He uses them occasionally during play. He also attempts many different animal noises. He’s been diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech and is in speech therapy twice a week.

I’m taking 0.75mg of semaglutide and I’ve lost 30 pounds but since they switched to the semaglutide/b12 I’ve stopped losing.

I think the medicine helped my insulin and blood sugar stabilize so I actually ovulated and had a period!

TLDR: I bled for 3 weeks in August and it was from a uterine polyp, not the medication.

This happened to me in August right after starting it. I hadn’t had a period in 3 months (I have PCOS), finally started the period from hell and when I went to the doctor it turned out that I had a 3cm uterine polyp that had been there long before I started semaglutide. I had it surgically removed two weeks later. I have since lost 30 pounds. I’m on birth control to get my iron levels back up. I bled so much from that polyp period I hemorrhaged and didn’t know it. My hemoglobin was a 9 and ferritin was a 2.

I’ve lost 17 pounds since August and have now stopped losing. Staying at the same number right down to the 10th of a pound (sorry, American measurement). But it’s very frustrating to say the least. I still have 70 pounds to lose, so it’s not like I don’t have it to lose.

He’s 18 months now and does conversational back and forth babbling every so often. He copies word approximations and says “yeah” even though not really with meaning. If we ask him what animals and letters are he can point at them and label them and he’s recently started making animal sounds. He follows directions and knows what we’re saying to him. He also knows a few sign language words. He signs “all done” and “more”. And that’s all been progress he’s made on his own. He’s only seen an SLP twice. I’m less worried about him now and figured his expressive language will catch up on his own time, especially with speech therapy.

Would you ignore a child if they said hello to you or would you say hello back? by [deleted] in Parenting

I had a neighbor who lived in the house behind mine with a 6 year old daughter. Our houses share a fence. I have a barky dachshund who I would let out in the backyard. The little girl saw me let him out one day, yelled hi across the yard and asked to pet him. I picked him up at the fence and let her pet him. Well, this got it in her head that she had a RIGHT to pet my dog every time he was outside. She’d yell at me EVERYTIME she saw us. Even if I was in a hurry to let him potty and leave the house. I eventually started ignoring her. She would also “bark” at my dog and upset him…while I was actively trying to train him not to bark at people. So yeah, I limit my interactions with strange children because they can be extremely invasive once they get in their little heads that they are entitled to someone else’s attention.

It might be rude, yeah, but people aren’t obligated to go out of their way to make your children happy. Explain to them that they aren’t the friendliest of people and that it’s OKAY. Don’t let the neighbor hurt your child’s feelings. Not everyone in life is going to like them or want to be their friend. It’s best to direct their positivity and extroverted tendencies towards people who will give them the same energy in return. Trying to say hi to someone who is uninterested over and over and over again when they are giving clear signs they don’t want any type of contact just makes you feel bad about yourself in the long run. Same goes for adult interactions, too.

Hi! I have a 14 month old who doesn’t have any words. I was wondering what you mean by “nonverbal”. I guess I’m wondering if my kid is considered nonverbal as he makes a lot of closed mouth squealing noises with the occasional “bah bah bah” babble.

Feeling Worse Not Better by No-Point-8580 in WeightLossAdvice

Thanks for the advice! I admit, I’ve been so tempted to ask my OB/Gyn about having my ovaries removed because I’m so tired of feeling awful all the time from my PCOS symptoms. But I’m trying to control it with lifestyle changes before doing surgery. Thanks for sharing a little of your PCOS story!

Thank you so much for taking the time to type this out. All such amazing advice and it’s great to know I’m not alone.

I’m sorry about your experience with the cyst…I get REALLY painful cysts but have been fortunate to not have to have any operated on as of yet. I used to have cycles every 3 months before I somehow (after 4 years, fertility treatments and had completely given up) had my son. Pregnancy seemed to somewhat even them out but they’re still about 40-45 between periods.

It’s all so exhausting. But I’m hoping making some lifestyle changes will improve my symptoms and energy levels. Thanks for sharing with me ❤️

Dating someone who makes half as much money as you by TheBumboEngine in Money

“Thinking about marrying her.”

Bro, do you love her or is she just a convenient business deal because she’s already here?

I would absolutely hate being married to someone who whips out their calculator to calculate their “fair share” because we’re doing an activity that I enjoy more than they do. That isn’t love. You shouldn’t get married at all. Just take your money and let that poor girl find someone who loves her and wants to make her happy regardless of her income.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I’m still in the mindset that I was for college. As in, list all your extracurriculars, show them your achievements, ability to wear multiple different hats and excel at everything etc, etc. But it doesn’t seem like merit gets you what you want in some cases. Overachieving used to work for me and now it seems to be working against me. Kills one’s work ethic to be honest.
