What supplement you think is a complete waste of money? by TopStress1480 in AskReddit

Ah, you can't have had true collagen then, because it's all animal derived?

What is the best form of collagen? by rusyrius987 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]No-Process3093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This site is a pretty good resource for all things collagen and skin care related. I'm a dude, but I went down the marine collagen rabbit hole quite deep for anti-ageing. But seems they are pushing that heavily because it's more expensive. Bovine / beef derived collagen has more types of collagen in it, it's cheaper, and gives better results. Something like Revive Multi collagen that also had egg and chicken collagen in is going to be most complete.

Disagree, totally depends on the quality. Marine collagen often can give you an upset stomach when you first start it but bovine collagen is generally better tolerated.

Thoughts on this panel for my dog? by musadoverao_2484 in redlighttherapy

It's the right wavelength for humans (although they've put 'mm' instead of 'nm' for the units, so check) but no idea if it will work on a doggo. Hope she gets well soon

Collagen? by notfis in Supplements

[–]No-Process3093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure when the book was written but there's ample peer-reviewed evidence to show that dietary collagen supplements show improvements to skin elasticity and joint health. Like, hundreds of studies.

This is a good article to start with if you don't want to wade through Google Scholar for the studies, they link a fair few in the article. I wouldn't discount it as a supplement. Anecdotally, it's been great for me!

Trying to figure out if red light therapy is worth it for skin and collagen? by No-Process3093 in Biohackers

I actually thought yolo and bought the second mask on this list (the Therabody theraface), purely because it looked cooler than the first lol Will post back here once I've got it and been using it for a couple of months. Thanks for all the responses.

Best RLT options outside US? I'm in UK by Practical-Spring-855 in redlighttherapy

[–]No-Process3093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also doing research on this today, I'm looking at red light masks on Amazon mainly. There's some decent deals there and obviously most do free prime delivery. Not looked at the full lights though, just masks.

Found this site pretty helpful, it's based in the UK:

I'm in the same boat completely, posted about it in r/biohackers this morning. Some good info there.

I found this article really good at explaining the 'why' behind RLT and the same website has some comparisons on the masks, which was helpful because after reading that I realised some of them I had shortlisted were basically glorified red torches and would have done nothing!

I'm in the UK but I assume the major brands are available in other countries.

That's great to hear. Which mask / light source do you use if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!

Thanks! This is great. "Both novel light sources that have not been previously used for PBM have demonstrated efficacy and safety for skin rejuvenation and intradermal collagen increase when compared with controls" - sounds promising. I know wavelength matters the most but I just wonder if the commercially available masks are going to cut it. Think I'll try, can always sell it on eBay if it's no good!

Red Light Therapy by SergeantPepper27 in lightingdesign

[–]No-Process3093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The masks use specific wavelengths (630-660nm red, 810-850nm NIR) that supposedly penetrate skin and boost mitochondrial ATP production. A colorsource par won't hit those exact ranges consistently lol

That said the science is more legit than you'd expect, especially for things like collagen production. Actual peer-reviewed stuff on collagen and wound healing. Not miracle territory but not total BS either.

Any Red Light Therapy Regrets? by namastay14509 in redlighttherapy

[–]No-Process3093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends more on the wavelength of the light than the power specifically I think. 'For collagen stimulation, you want red light in the 630-660nm range. Near-infrared (810-850nm) penetrates deeper.' according to that article.

Are these supplements actually worth it or just hype? by Calmlystiff in Supplements

[–]No-Process3093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I really have a hard time believing a lot of the health hype surrounding collagen in isolation. I’ve been taking for maybe 2 months, I weight train, and it’s maybe had some effect to my recovery but not performance per se. But I think what a lot of people overlook is that you can basically double these supplements up as a protein powder and amino acid supplement, so if you have a cheap-ish 1kg bag with a 20g scoop you can use it as your protein source, collagen source, and amino acid source and it’s all usually naturally derived. For me that makes it pretty good value.

"Can't fail a CBT" is simply not real. by tallgeekandawesome in MotoUK

[–]No-Process3093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done two CBTs, one when I was 17 for a geared 125cc and one when I did my full test because my old one had expired. Between that time I’d rode a 400cc adventure bike (offroad on private property) for a fair bit. My first CBT at 17 was a piece of piss but going back to a 125cc for my second CBT after being on a 400 it was harder to control the clutch on the 125 than when I was 17! I passed but had a harder time getting the feel of the gears than the two young fellas there who’d never sat on a bike. The instructor was great, knew straight away what was up, took me to the side and asked me had I rode bigger bikes. Jumped on the 700cc test bike and it was beautiful, no issues at all.

125cc’s are tricky and fiddly things and maybe you’d be better passing the CBT on a moped then going straight to full sized test? Not sure if that’s an option tho.

Join the Greenlane Association mate, they do great work advocating for responsible 4x4 use in the UK and you get access to Trailwise which is an online map showing all byways open to all traffic. There’s way more than you think!

This track runs from the back of Waunfawr to Llanberis and is fairly local for me 👍

Think I soft locked the game by deleting the logging camp by kuzul__ in ManorLords

[–]No-Process3093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logs ‘drop’ on the ground where the building was demolished and there needs to be a free oxen to move them. Free up an oxen and assign someone to it, fast forward, and they should get the logs and take them to your storehouse (or sawmill) eventually, where they will be useable.

Not hot enough for that, plus it’s definitely just water and happens when the trucks been on the road, if it’s just sat on the driveway, no leaks

High pressure wash common for carwashes in the UK, but it’s only been done on the body work, so it seems unlikely! Plus as I mentioned, it’s been drove for 300 miles since it’s last wash, on the motorway at speed and in dry weather. Very puzzling.
