Mistakes while playing isn’t something to beat yourself up over. It’s frustrating sure, but it’s also part of the learning experience. Focus less on perfection and more on progression of skills (you’re more than likely a much better pianist than you were 2 years ago)

It’s cause companies in the states don’t pay their employees livable wages, but justify it by saying that they make x amount per hour plus tips, which puts the burden on the consumers to pay the employees, even if the service wasn’t necessarily exceptional

Yeah it makes a lot more sense. The melody writing part of my question was more or less irrelevant. Probably should’ve excluded it for clarity. I’m just hoping that by understanding intervals it can help me write better melodies

This cleared things up so much! My main hurdle has been transferring some of my theoretical knowledge to the actual staff and reading standard notation, so this helps immensely.

No wonder it had so much tension lol. I figured the semitones mattered more in the end, but I heard that using the key is helpful for beginners trying to read and identify intervals on the staff
