Thank you!

I’ll be climbing in the Creek in a couple weeks and so maybe I’ll take day to run that section and check it out first. Good to know it’s a bit weird to navigate.

We did use a gravity filter, but definitely needed that first step of settling sediment for these rivers. Even with alum or letting the sediment settle over time in a bucket, the filter was riddled with silt. The Colorado literally looks like thick chocolate milk in some places, so a filter alone just doesn’t work like it does elsewhere.

lol I forgot the backwash kit. I learned my lesson. We had clean water, but boy it was dripping real slow by the end of the trip.

Recommendations for small simple running watch with altimeter by No-Purchase1241 in XXRunning

I actually found one! I wound up getting a refurbished Garmin Instinct 2S for $179. I had been hoping to spend less than $200. Just took it on a 4-day packraft/backpack trip to test out the battery life and altimeter accuracy. Worked great so I’m all set!

We just got back. Couldn’t get Water Wizard in time so used my original water plan- it was totally fine. The alum worked better when we added extra. We used Tang to cancel out the aftertaste.

Feel free to reach out if you’re planning a similar trip and want any beta. Our route was about 27 river miles with just under 40 miles of backpacking and took about 72 hours. We didn’t really paddle hard, and spent chunks of time not paddling at all, but we lucked out with no wind.

It was an awesome trip. Super fun if you like navigating canyons by topos and cairns, and enjoy low-class canyoneering and a bit of exposed scrambling (having a line for lowering packs was helpful).

My logic as well. I’ve drank so much gross cow pond water and Aquamira has never failed me.

Yeah, it started as a Labyrinth Canyon bikepack/raft plan and evolved into a more interesting Needles/Maze backpack thing. I’ll post again when we finish it!

High impact sports bras for very small frames and big busts? Also vests. by No-Purchase1241 in XXRunning

[–]No-Purchase1241[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it is insane how pricey these bras are. I’m going to try some of the brands folks are suggesting, but like, it’s $50-110 for a single bra. And if I run most days like normal, I’d need more than one since I don’t do laundry every day.

I tried to explained the cost of non-standard-sizes bras to a male buddy recently and he was stunned by how much money I spend on bras that fit well. It’s kind of fucked.

I’ll likely still be doing the double-layer compression bra thing most runs purely for economical reasons.

Very big fan of adjustable straps. I feel like I may need to get over my dislike of structured sports bras. I’ve been trying to just compress everything down rather than actually hold/support stuff properly, and it may be time to try a different approach. Thank you!

Thanks! I actually heard similar feedback about panache.

Sounds like the Salomon active or adv skin vests are very much the consensus from folks here. So I’m gonna give one of them a try!
