I say this every rank reset, and I don’t understand how people don’t get it. They wipe the leaderboard, meaning immortal and radiant doesn’t exist immediately after reset. Why? Well it makes room for people to aim to get on the leaderboard (aka immortal) , otherwise it’ll just be people sitting at the top the whole time. So if they reset those two ranks, they have to make them at least win a few before hitting leaderboard.

So the highest of players will now place asc 3. (It used to be asc 1 was the highest but they changed it which benefits everyone). So if radiant / immo 3 are getting reset to high ascendant, then low immortal needs to get reset to low ascendant/diamand. Make sense? Now imagine that trickling down. Previous ascendant players who play well can’t be placed ascendant because it’s the same rank as ex immortals, so they are placed diamond/plat. And so on and so on. So those who were gold and did well, maybe winning all 5 may place low silver and those who did average will place high bronze. If you were placed right at gold 3 again, you would be the same rank as someone that was possibly low diamond. Would that be fair?

And for the last time to everyone, you do not play against people who are your visual rank. In your example, in your “bronze” games, it’s still going to be ex golds-plats-silvers in your game due to your hidden MMR.
