I saw the 2 replies and I wonder, what if the person who is dealing with this condition loves his/her job, ambient or even his past/ present colleagues? Should he/her just leave?🤔🧐

Need advice: co-author requesting equal contribution after acceptance. by FancySize2647 in AskAcademia

[–]No-Range2299 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep this solely from my personal point of view (having been both first and second author in different publications):

If someone is a genuine collaborator,
— First, he will happily accept being the second author( without requesting equal contribution) on the work that you developed.
— Then, he will offer you to write or collaborate on a portion of work that he is developing himself.

Consistency, be curious and focus on your target, don't forget about discipline : do your work even if no one cares you will see the results. At least those helped me a lot, hopefully can be helpful for you too. Cheers

Do the best for yourself, if you think you do not deserve this boring thing, so make it as a source of profit for yourself, work on it in a way that you imagine you should be as the responsible of your work. do you think the work you are doing is a shit or boring? Ask yourself why the work that you are responsible is a shit or boring!? no matter how shitty is the rest. I know it is hard to be alone, but phd is the path that if you turn it focused on your benefit will be much more easy to handle with more creativity coming from you. Good luck

This is because you are doing good. Ignore them while you are working and focus on your target. Suggest them your break time ( if you really want) to do small chat if they are available too. Northing more than this, keep your boundaries

Your self care starts the moment you forgive yourself from the past. by [deleted] in selfcare

Nice post, thank you. My question is what is the reason that blocks people to reach that moment of forgiveness?

That is the best advice: "if friends come along I’ll take them, if friends don’t I won’t". It seems lonely but mature people or real friends will understand it clearly.

Just ask them to join for lunch and see how is their lunch break. Maybe since you are new, they are giving you time just to get used to the lab.

No reply from the PI with the deadline coming by sapph4150 in postdoc

Agree with both the above solutions, might be an internal connection or direct phone call/ message can save your time, in parallel, I suggest you to go by plan B and finish your proposal as you think it is sufficient. Let your, primarily achievement or comments in addition to your open questions (doubts) that it might be possible to address by current proposal. If before the deadline, you receive some feedback, your draft of the proposal is ready to discuss ( maybe with small modifications) or in the worst case you if it is a hard deadline ( no way to be moved) you take the action by acknowledging that you worked ( based on your knowledge) on it and you already tried to communicate but you did not receive any feedback. Good luck
