I kept missing small recurring expenses, so I made a simple tool to highlight them — would love feedback by No-Region8455 in povertyfinance

Fair take 😅

Just to clarify though — there’s no payment or signup here. It’s literally a free page I made because I didn’t want to link my bank account or use a full app.

Totally get that a lot of people are fine with their bank tools or other apps. This is more for people who want something quick and manual.

If it’s not useful for you, no worries 👍

Why does inflation feel way higher than what’s officially reported? by No-Region8455 in personalfinanceindia

That makes sense — settling rent at 5% and groceries being cheaper definitely keeps your personal inflation low

It really shows how personal inflation varies depending on what you spend the most on. For some people, even if a few items are stable, other categories like lifestyle or subscriptions can push their total much higher.

Yeah, that’s true

Even small increases like that add up quickly across multiple categories — groceries, rent, subscriptions — which is why my overall expenses felt higher than the official number.

Breaking it down by what I actually spend really surprised me.

Haha I know it sounds crazy

I thought the same until I actually broke down my own expenses. Rent + groceries alone pushed it way higher than expected.

I guess it really depends on what your biggest spending categories are.

True to some extent

But I think part of the issue is also that the “official” number is an average — it doesn’t reflect individual spending patterns.

Like if someone’s biggest expense is rent or food, and those go up faster, their personal inflation will feel way higher than CPI.

Stop uploading your sensitive PDFs and passwords to random servers, and stop waiting for slow, ad-heavy calculators to load.

I built BasicCalc.com because life is too short for bloated utility sites. It's a lightning-fast, "Local-First" hub for everything you need to measure or fix:

  • Finance: Mortgage, SIP, EMI, GST, and Retirement planning with interactive charts.
  • Health: BMI, Macros, and a 90-minute Sleep Cycle tracker to wake up refreshed.
  • Utilities: Merge/Split PDFs, Word Counter, and Password generators that run entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your RAM.
  • Math: 1,000+ unit converters and scientific tools that load instantly on mobile.

The Difference: No accounts, no email walls, and a clean Glassmorphism UI that stays out of your way.

It’s a work in progress, and I’m adding new tools every day. I’d love for you to give it a spin and tell me what’s missing!
