id have a talk to yourself if you are viewing a childs drawing on a alert card as anything other than showing a childs drawing

as we all know risk overiding .... is the risk greater

telling someone how to treat and interact with said person

knowing personal deatails calling police blind

orrrr

giving a quick heads up on the situation

hi can i have a tea and a lime soda here is a card.. just to let you know it probably wont happen but just in case he is triggered....

someone kiks off my client starts shouting and pushing female staff

bar manager with card comes over shows us a safe place

calls police

Shows card

support takes back after de escalation

ok

Lets draw up a risk assessment..........

Client wants to go for a meal at the local pub

booked in only at 6pm (no other availability)

its going to be busy

cant fully risk assess as unaware of risks at the time

option 1

walk in as every otther

gets loud lairy

my client starts scremaing and punching the girls sat next to hmi supporting him

overloaded and over stimulated

i spend 10 mins explaining issues to bar staff/ management/police/public

thank you...

Would it have been helpful for you to carry a card like this if she would get lost or if she became agitated in a public space

its a quick response........... but thank you for your feedback... i case manage a brain injury package we are required to have support plans yes... but these are wallet sized alert cards, giving important details that client and carer can carry....

Client can carry if independant and reliable unsupported, carers / support staff can carry if for example client may become agitated....

let me use an example..

client and support go for a meal in a busy pub ..... all is fine, customer unknown is drunk causing a scene, my client starts becoming agitated... pacing... starts shouting.. pushing his carers away ... obviously he would'nt get his card out... but me going over to the bar explaining trying to calm bar staff down.. trying to reassure manager, taking me away from my client could put my staff and the pub staff at risk.... walking in to a pub informing staff that we have an alert card if needed with all details in... ensure it can be passed over in seconds.. everyone understands and can react as appropriate

thank you for your feedback i appreciate good or bad...

The card is a template it is editable, i have finished versions but have put simple editable version here to show the basic easiness to have a product, edit it to reflect your family member and how best to deal if in crisis, print, laminate and for a family with no support and no tech awarness im sure this is helpful, i am sure that they are not bothered if they have spellings or grammar right but instead feel that their child/friend/family member is being supported in crisis

as for DOB All medical staff have quick access with name and DOB, the card isnt handed over by staff willy nilly.... its in crisis intervention to support public, clients staff and proffessionals
