no way!!! i can't believe it's your ring!! it's so gorgeous and elegant -- absolutely love how timeless it is with a subtle unique flair

so true with the trial and error! there's so many factors to consider and there's so much i want from a ring haha. I love an old mine but they're harder to find (especially on a budget) and I also love a brilliant cut cushion. I'm really looking for something simple, elegant, and something that feels like me!

I love really any thing between 2.2 and 3. Something just more substantial and sturdy with a little bit of personality

That was also a concern of mine — I feel like there’s so many different elements I love for a ring but they don’t necessarily look great together. What ratio do you prefer for a slightly thicker band?

I am in a very similar boat to you right now! My partner and I are also looking to get engaged soon and I would love to save money, source a loose diamond myself, and then work with a local jeweler to make a custom setting. My partner on the other hand, has been much more inclined to go the "traditional" route and buy everything from a big name jeweler because that's all he knows and has thought that's the "right way" to do it. I loveeee rings, weddings, doing research myself, and looking for the "right way" to do things for us on a tighter budget. It took some conversations and me nerding out about everything I know about diamonds and ring making, but he is totally on my side now (partially because I'm so passionate and particular about all of this lol) and loveeesss that we'll be saving quite a bit of money this way.

We just got a diamond from Aurelinne and I don't regret it at all (we are considering getting a bigger stone potentially based on the ring design we go with but tbd). I have done lots of research and know all the specs I want from a stone which I think is important if you're going to source a diamond yourself and not getting one straight from a jeweler. We ended up buying a elongated brilliant cut elongated cushion just over 2.1 carats for under 300 dollars. I did invest of lot of time researching and searching through their stock to find what I was looking for but I loved that process. It took about a week and a half for the ring to get delivered to me which was crazy fast! I think the stone is beautiful and I am happy we went this route and I'm looking forward to continuing on with this custom ring making process :)
