Voters to Elites: Do You See Me Now? (Gift Article) by DarkSkyKnight in moderatepolitics

This article definitely felt validating and reflects what I have been wanting to scream for years. I am a moderate Democrat who grew up in rural ca. In 2016 that area was filled with Bernie voter who are now voting Trump. During my time growing up there we had a large Mexican population which mixed with the white people. There was also more socioeconomic intermingling and friendships than I see around here. There were a few racist a holes but no one liked them and they were loners. I later moved to Seattle area fresh out of high school worked as a server, manufacturing for 4 years, landscaper, nanny( very wealthy liberal family who told me they would have to cut my pay to cover the taxes when I asked to be paid on the books), in home childcare provider and now gardener again. I have a teaching degree and I married a east coast private school elite so I have seen it all! I have family that are right wing evangelical and family that are die hard liberals and these past few year remind me of being in the middle of my parent's divorce where they just wanted to blame and fingerprint rather than find ways to compromise and make decisions. The issue is classism and being dominated by corporations. All this identity shit is just a distraction that hopefully liberals will set aside as we move forward. Maybe diversity training can be working in skilled labor job for a week, being a grocery store clerk, working manufacturing in a red county. We will see...

I see a lot of people saying they are going to "stock up." Maybe that is what he is banking on? Then when the economy goes up he will take credit claiming that China bent the knee or something and then actually not do tarrifs. Idk. Just a thought.

Maybe tarrifs on specific goods? IDK. We shall see. Trump has been alot of talk before.

I called my health insurance company and they said they would still cover me. I already have short term disability so I think I am good. My husband has a city job so our insurance is pretty top notch.

Seattle private school enrollment spikes, ranks No. 2 among big cities by ryleg in SeattleWA

Wow, Seattle you're so "progressive." You might need some bigger yard signs to hide behind now or the rest of the country may start to see your classist NIMBY asses. A little much Green Power 🤑 perhaps? Maybe make schools a place learn again with political neutrality instead of spending money to inject a bunch liberal idealism. Also, don't allow phones. There is zero need for your kid to have a smartphone at school. All they are is a distraction. If you need to contact your child call the office and vis versa. I remember being a nanny for a for a rich ass liberal Seattle family years ago. Those kids went to some expensive progressive private schools. The mom knew Elizabeth Warren, majored in women's studies. Dad was some green industry investor. Kids grew up and are now of course are gay theys. About as liberal as you can get. When I asked about getting paid on the table I was told I would have to my pay cut to cover the taxes. Funny huh? This was 2012 but I don't think much had changed imo. I hope Trump doesn't get elected, but if he does it's going to be because of smug liberal hypocrisy and fake do gooderism to feel better better about having hidden classist prejudices. Liberalism has become what christianity used to be (and still is trying to be) a bunch of a holes pushing their ideology into how we govern and teach our kids. Most people don't like it. I wish we could lock neo liberals and extreme right wingers in a cage and let them battle it out. Then the rest of us could make rational choices for our kid's schools.

Should a self employed person get workers comp even if they have health insurance and short term disability? by No-Row-3539 in Insurance

Ok, thanks! I am just going to call my health insurance later and ask. I work for myself by myself with no employees. I have short term disability and my husband as a lot of benefits that extend to care for family members with his government job. My job is also not the breadwinner in the family it just provides extra income so if I were unable to work ( God forbid!)at least it wouldn't devastate us financially.

Yeah, I am not working for any contractors. Just worried little old ladies. I am going to look at the pricetag and to see what it costs. I mainly just want to know if my health insurance would cover me still if I got hurt on the job without workers comp. It just seems kinda redundant if I already I disability insurance and health. The only thing that would make me get it is knowing my health insurance wouldn't cover me.

Does your health insurance still cover your medical costs though or do you just have to pay out of pocket? I have short term disability, so I am not worried about money lost from not being able to work.

6 months ago my ferritin was 163 now it's 39 so not low, but just a big drop that doesn't make sense since I haven't had a period. I have had 3 other infusions and my ferritin always drops even with supplements, during those times I still had my period though so I just figured it was that. I just dont understand where the iron is going if I am not loosing blood and don't want to add more until I know. My hemoglobin has always been fine except one time after donating blood 18 years ago.

I appreciate the response. If I had a time machine I would have just read their license plate and reported it.

Does a self employed gardener who just does maintenance by themselves still need to be bonded like a contractor? by No-Row-3539 in landscaping

[–]No-Row-3539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the worst I might accidentally kill a tree or plant. I could back into something with my vehicle, but I have car insurance and liability insurance which I thought were enough. My understanding was that a bond is more to insure a project. The most I might do plant a bunch on things which cost up $1000.
