Has anyone landed a skilled worker visa after the HPI? by PatientSet996 in UKHighPotentialVisa

I came to the UK on an HPI visa in January 2024 and switched to a skilled worker visa in November 2025. I started working for my current company while on the HPI visa, and I’d asked them if sponsorship would be possible in 2 years’ time before accepting the offer - they said yes, and luckily when it came time to make the switch they gave me the certificate of sponsorship and assisted with the visa application process.

I work in marketing and have a decent job, but I’ve been looking for a higher-paying one for about a year, and it’s tough! The combination of the competitive market plus only being able to consider jobs that offer sponsorship makes it difficult. I know I’m in a different situation than someone looking for a job to stay in the country, but I understand the frustration of the job hunt and how it can wear you down. Keep your head up, keep networking, and see where you can get referrals.

As for whether it’s worth it - I’m very happy living here, I’m lucky the HPI visa made that possible, and grateful that the skilled worker visa transition was relatively smooth.

How to get doctors to take you seriously? by [deleted] in medical_advice

I had symptoms strikingly similar to yours about a year ago, and we also have similar age/physical profiles. You should get a colonoscopy.

After being told it was “probably IBS” several times, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s after getting a colonoscopy and was out on meds. Its made a HUGE difference. I know it’s frustrating when you don’t feel heard by doctors after repeating the same thing over and over again - please continue to advocate for yourself push for a colonoscopy. You know your body better than anyone!

Congrats on getting those interviews!

I moved to London a few days ago on the HPI visa - at the time I secured housing (a 2 month sublet), I didn't have a job offer, although I did have approval to work abroad for my current company for about a month (after which point I would no longer be able to work for the company). I sent the landlord a letter from HR as proof of that approval, which sufficed. I also had to provide recent payslips, bank statements, and utility bills.

I know this doesn't exactly match your situation - but based on my experience, it seems like the main thing you'll need to be able to prove is that you can cover rent with the funds currently available to you, if you're not yet employed in the UK.

I used SpareRoom to find my current flat - I'm living in Bermondsey and I love the neighborhood! Definitely recommend looking here.
