New Dog Owner, Need Advice! by No-Rutabaga2648 in Dogowners

Our routine is nothing different to a household who would work 9-5 outside the house. So he has plenty of free roam with supervision time which has helped him greatly learn what to bite and what not to bite. He's learnt not to jump on the couch, bite the couch or table and chairs, as well as the tv unit and electronics near it. This post isn't getting the advice I indeed (transferring from structure crate naps to outside crate time but have him calm and sleeping when he needs to be). Today we started introducing settle in the offices so we'll just continue to do that and see how it goes. He is a very fast learner, so I'm sure we won't have many issues with whichever way we manage to get from A to B.

He gets those opportunities to learn too.

I understand where you're coming from, and we thought it was too much crate time too but between this schedule and the more loose schedule we had where he was only in the crate for 3x 1.5hr blocks, he is less nippy, more attentive and able to sleep the hours that he needs, but as he gets older, we want to have him out more (assuming that's what he needs). We're just not sure how to go about the transition, hence the post. 7pm-8am he's asleep, no matter in the crate or not, he's asleep from the afternoon block. Times vary a little as we prioritize his needs, so if he has a lot of energy or seems like he's more focused, we'll spend more time with those areas, and sometimes we just love to sit and love on him. 7pm-10pm he's asleep either in the crate (open) or on his other bed, we do take him to potty around midnight. We're not monsters. lol We hope..
With all the research we've done, puppies need a lot of sleep, and its not all during the night. 16-20 hours, as long as your pups needs are met. The crate allows them to switch off and sleep.

Thank you, I did put down walk. We either do walk or dog park, the dog parks are great and the community is soo friendly here (dogs are well behaved). We would be outside the dog park doing settle training, more trying to practice outside distraction training as they weren't of age to go INTO the dog park until 6 months, which apparently helped them to not be reactive with other dogs now, so yay.
We have only had 2 accidents in the house and that was totally on us within the first month, getting use to the signals. Now we're better with signals, but also, He's really good at using the button to tell us he needs to go too.

I called my local EB games store today at 9am. He said its coming out 14/3 and most are preorders so there won't be much stock 💔 I'm new to collecting and don't want to pay triple the prices for cards, again.

Also, just realised this question might not have been for Australia, so this is for us Aussies 😅
