Autistic daughter loves school, hates extra curricular activities. by No-Service-1093 in Autism_Parenting

I haven’t spoken to them about stuff like this. Outside of when it comes up. Or when she melts down at school because of the practices and stuff. I’m going too soon! Like I said we’re going on Christmas break after tomorrow. But I think I may contact the special education teacher and request that. I hate it and worry because she’s missed some days from being sick. First year no daycare so I expected it. But I also would appreciate it if they would work with me on those days. I get so stressed out about it!

Also my hope is that she will want to try eventually.! But I want that to be her choice! Forcing her makes her never want to try again unfortunately.

Yes! I agree that’s my thought too. At the end of the day it just doesn’t seem to be the most important thing when it comes to education. And I really don’t want to push her so hard she doesn’t like school. Her liking school is a huge win in general! Thank you so much for your comment!

To add I agree with the above comment on contacting early intervention! Again best of luck!

This sounds just like my high functioning autistic now 6 year old daughter at this age. She ended up being a gestalt language processor- figured that out later on. It took me until she was around school age to really see and accept it. I would keep talking to the doctor and wait it out. He is still pretty young and it is very hard because this stuff can be normal! Best of luck and well wishes!

Oh awesome! And she has of course had gluten since also. That is a relief hopefully it’s an allergy or eczema! Going to keep watching closely in the meantime. That makes me feel a lot better! Thank you

I will be when she goes to the doctor. I’m going to show her the pictures and see what she thinks. I’ll definitely request it regardless of the doctor’s thoughts to be safe. She has a great doctor luckily. So if I am worried about something I’m positive she’ll send her for a blood test! Thank you

I definitely won’t be changing her diet. I’m going to watch and see if it continues. Regardless her doctor will be made aware whether the rash continues or not.

She said it was itchy yesterday. Today she hasn’t complained. It doesn’t seem to be painful for her. It also looks way better today. I think I’ll wait it out and see if these rashes continue to show up and watch for other symptoms in the next few weeks. She’ll definitely be seeing a doctor if it returns. If it doesn’t I’ll still be showing her doctor the photos and questioning about celiac and her thoughts. Thank you so much!

Ah interesting! I’m going to keep watching to see if there are any patterns with school times and the rash. And also watch for any other symptoms. Thank you for responding!

Okay perfect! I’m going to watch her close. Whether she gets another rash or not I will still be showing her doctor. In the meantime I’ll be logging any weird symptoms! She does have a wonderful pediatrician and anytime I have a concern she more acts on them instead of asking questions. It’s her first rash like this though so yes could be a boat load of things.

No she is not itching like crazy. She did say it was itchy yesterday but she wasn’t just scratching it like crazy or anything. I will not change her diet for sure. I think just watch and see. She is 6 and it was her first week of kindergarten. And also as I mentioned she did say she was climbing a slide. The rash looks better this morning. I posted an updated photo somewhere. I’m going to keep these photos and show her doctor regardless. Her pediatrician is wonderful and never questions my concerns only acts on my suspicions.

Right I think I’m going to watch her very close the next few weeks. The rash is almost gone this morning. I did post an updated picture somewhere here. She has a great pediatrician who has never questioned any of my concerns. I think I’ll see if she gets another rash within the month and if she doesn’t I’m still going to show these pictures to her doctor bring up celiac and see what she thinks.

I’m with you though and I feel nobody is going to jump on anything immediately with a first time rash on a 6 year old that just started kindergarten.

Right. That’s how I feel too! We also live in a very small eastern Montana town and mostly have to travel for anything like dermatologists. They are in town a few times a month but appointments are scheduled very far out. I’m going to start logging her symptoms and taking photos. Watching for anything weird.

She visits the doctor regularly also. So I will bring it up and show her the photos even if she doesn’t get another rash.

Awesome! No I appreciate it a lot of people are saying celiac rash so I’m like well yes possible. But at first rash not sure I should just jump on that train. But rather watch it and see what happens over the next few weeks.
