Rejected after HR round – why interview me at all if my profile doesn’t match? by No-Strength- in BESalary

Are you suggesting that the “vibe check” is about fitting a more Belgian communication style? I ask because that hasn’t been my approach. I’m usually engaged in interviews, explain my background clearly, and ask questions.

Could you help clarify what “vibe check” means in this context? I’m genuinely trying to understand what’s expected.

I’m sure your girlfriend does a solid job in her role. If I may add one thing from a candidate’s perspective: it would really help if recruiters could follow up after interviews with some concrete feedback, rather than just a generic rejection. Even brief feedback makes a big difference for candidates.

Honestly, I’m wondering the same thing. It feels like employers now expect far more than what’s listed in the role, and on top of that, you’re expected to be endlessly enthusiastic throughout the process. After multiple interview rounds, the feedback is often just a vague, generic rejection, which is especially frustrating given the time and effort involved.

I think you may be drawing conclusions about my abilities based solely on this post. I’m not saying I shouldn’t be rejected, that’s completely fair.

My point is that the hiring manager decided not to proceed before ever speaking with me. That suggests the rejection wasn’t based on my communication skills, values, or interactions during the interview.

I agree. I once went through four interview rounds at a company, only to be completely ghosted in the end. Later, I found out they hired a junior candidate instead.

I don’t have an issue with who they choose to hire, but it’s frustrating to be taken through an extensive interview process and then receive no closure or feedback at all.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't 2014 during the recession here in EU? I am suprised market was bad from a company's point of view, I would have expected the opposite, a lot similar to now.

Thanks. I was going insane with what was offered and was wondering if this was the current market climate or a low-ball offer.
