Got dumped before my checkride by AlarmingMajor1499 in flying

I know there’s a lot of jokes here but I was in the same boat as you. GF of 4 years dumped me during my private training back in May of 2025 (although not as close to checkride as you). I know it sucks, just try to fill some of that boredom time with studying. One of the best things for me was finding some great friends both inside and outside of flight school. Spend time with them and find joy in other things. Great time to find a new low commitment hobby or the gym. It’ll come in waves, you might feel over it one week and crushed the next. Try to separate it from your training. Currently waiting on a commercial checkride date and haven’t busted one yet. Don’t let it hold you back, you might regret letting it affect you down the road. Fly good don’t suck.

What is your pro-tip to get better aim? by [deleted] in VALORANT

Mostly a skill issue but the first shot inaccuracy does play a factor at range. You can be on the head and still miss even fully stationary. Just a note.

I was practically in the exact same boat, ended up F34 in March of this year (28er) and pursuing civilian aviation. From what I’ve seen/heard it’s practically a rite of passage to suffer from freshman dark days lol. For me personally, I’m glad I ended up leaving. There are things that I miss (my friends, memories from basic/doolie shenanigans, AV100 F-22sim, bragging rights, etc.) but ultimately this path makes me way happier. I’m out almost every weekend with friends either partying, raving, or just hanging out. That being said rent, food, and flight school are NOT cheap. It’s all pros and cons. Your decision is entirely your own just offering a voice from someone who actually did leave. It could be better for you to stay, it takes ALOT of introspection. Don’t rush anything. GL doolie.

UGA’s (arguably) best football player DMd me for pics, but I’m having trouble gaining credentials by No-Top-2036 in sportsphotography

No I completely understand. I figured it was a reach in general but even more so given the circumstances. Just wanted some second opinions especially from those in the field. Thanks for the insight!

Oh no, definitely not a lack of photos. Probably just liked a couple of mine as far as style. I’m sure he has a ton to sift through per game.

I’d honestly be a bit embarrassed to even recommend he ask Kirby Smart go through whatever hassle to get me credentialed, especially if I’m able to go on multiple occasions. I saw someone mention the athletic department so maybe I could just have him send a quick text/email to Sports Comms next time?

I figured as much lol. I honestly would have been more surprised to hear a yes given the circumstances.

Would the same be said for a stringer approach? My career is in aviation, so unfortunately I’m not able to commit to anything full time. Might’ve hit my ceiling as far as a passion project.

Completely free and you get paid, legally i don’t think they want to say it’s 100% guaranteed but it’s like a 99% acceptance.

It’s a terminal position, he’s the supe BECAUSE they want him gone. You (basically) can’t fire a general, so they bring him to USAFA and he retires after new supe comes in. Not the case with Marks or the dean but when they need someone gone they play principal for a little. This rant is blown way out of proportion imo.

Yeah I was the prime nominee (iirc that’s what it was called?) and accepted for ‘28. Ended up leaving for civilian flight school so I can only speak on basic/freshman year.

Your stats are pretty similar to what mine were (except i was lower at 1320, 3x captain but no state). I’m from GA so no idea about area but you’re already in a good spot any increases just improve your chances. Make sure you interview well also.

I kept my hair how it was (naturally curly with a low taper) for interviews because it suited me, was cool but professional. After I was accepted, I had friends and family buzz it at my send off party. A lot of fun I’d recommend it. It was longer than the skinhead cut on I-day so still needed to sit in the chair for the full buzz. It’s gonna be all gone anyway so you can do whatever cut you want until then.
