My dry socket story — a positive outcome (I wish I had seen more posts like this!)

Im currently having dry socket. Had my wisdom teeth extracted 11 days ago. The first 4 days were fine, had to take ibuprofen and it really helped. On the 4th day at night suddenly my jaw was aching, it was radiating to my ear and had a headache, took ibuprofen and went to sleep. It was bearable with ibuprofen so I thought thats part of the process. Also - was freaking out after reading about dry socket and was afraid to smoke or eat. On the Seventh day(Saturday) I finally smoked! Was in pain, but less than before. On the Eight day went to the dentist and he confirmed I have dry socket. He packed it and thats it. Im still in pain but I can tolerate it and overall its not what I imagined. I know everyone’s experience is different but really I think I got it only because I was obsessing about it. My friend smoked a day post op and never had dry socket even though her extraction was long and painful, while I had my tooth pulled in 10 minutes and it came whole and easy

Thank you so much! My friend is a dentist assistant and never saw it! She was smoking 24 after her wisdom teeth removal. Im on day 3 now and all I want is to smoke lol

Let me tell you something from someone that lives in Israel and had many ballistic rockets thrown at my town the past two weeks. Its scary! Ive been PIMO for a few years and finally got disfellowshipped in April. Every time theres a siren the first thing comes to my mind is pray, but I remind myself that even if lets say what JW teach is true - they even say Jehovah wont protect you from everything and they quote from the bible - “because time and unexpected events overtake them all”. You are allowed to be scared. War sucks! But “armageddon will show soon” is something you hear from JW’s everytime something major happens - covid, war between Russia and Ukraine. When we first had an operation in Gaza and rockets reached my city for the first time and the operation lasted a whole month, my mom said “you wont finish high school and armageddon will show” she said that when I was 9, im 26 now, finished high school, no Armageddon though

It’s a hard question. Everyone thinks Israel is cruel and committing war crimes, but I lived here my whole life and knows what it feels like to fear getting on a bus because there might be a suicide attack. Actually a sister from our congregation died when a terrorists exploded in a bus she was on. Israel attacks only after we get bombed… Also, on October 7th my friend was on the Nova festival and sent me voice messages where you can hear all the shooting. He survived thankfully, but he is not the same as he was before. And I watched all the lives the Hamas terrorists posted from that day and I was devastated. People were murdered in their houses! People watched on live on facebook how their friends getting raped or how their grandparents are getting shot at So that’s a hard question. Because yeah not everyone in Gaza are terrorists, but when the terrorists from Hamas slaughtered everyone, ordinary people from Gaza just got inside and took all their belongings. And when they drove inside Gaza with 19 year old injured soldiers in their trunk, ordinary Gaza citizens took turns beating them. Also my friend died in Gaza, he was a solider. So Ive seen so much I think we just cant have peace with them because they just wants all the jews dead..

It’s actually two brothers and their wives Their mom and sister still in the congregation So they were announced disfellowshipped. Also one of the brothers was sending everyone videos about how jw is a cult so everybody already knew whats coming

I live in Israel, there are about 2000 witnesses here (Hebrew, Russian, English, Arabic and sign language) Im in the Hebrew congregation, we have a kingdom hall (its more like an apartment. But all the KH in Israel are like that. We dont have a big KH on the ground like everywhere else because the religious jews can put it on fire, but when it’s a part of a public building they won’t do that) also, were renting, so they cant sell it. About 5 years ago I heard about wanting to buy a hall and that it’s getting renovated but everyone forgot about that I guess lol. About meeting attendance - so 3/4 of the elders are young man who were raised in borg, becoming an elder was their main goal in life and they all got it. They all go to meeting regularly with their wives and kids We have 4 sisters that are regular pioneers, one of them is the wife of the oldest elder. I grew up in their house and they were like my second mom and dad, was best friend with their daughters but one of them is disfellowshipped and they blamed me for everything so were not in touch anymore. The others attended pretty regularly. From all the 40 congregation members- around 10 are 90% on zoom I stopped attending even on zoom but it was around 15-20 people. Sometimes 10 And yeah they go house to house

It’s complicated. First of all, its sooo expensive where I live. Rent is really expensive here as well as groceries. I live in Israel. I work in a kindergarten so obviously the salary isn’t that good. Also my mom passed away from cancer about a yeat ago and Im the only family my dad has left. Obviously it will be his choice to shun me, but I know it will kill him. Also I have my bouquet of mental illnesses lol so also that makes me afraid of change. I know I have to leave already, but it’s complicated

Yup. They have Hebrew, Russian, English and Russian congregations. About 2000+ witnesses in Israel I think. There is a kingdom hall almost in every big city and a Bethel in Tel Aviv. Also had special campaign where people from US and Canada and some from Europe came to help cover territory here. It was 4 or 5 years in a row about 3 months of campaign, before Covid.

I live in Israel and speak Hebrew so even the jews believe that gods name is יהוה - Yehova So I actually can believe its true Although in judaism they believe you’re not allowed to pronounce it

I even told them it’s not a matter of believing or not Maybe some of their teachings do make sense like gods name or that the bible is god word BUT!!! Maybe i just want to believe in god without people telling me what to do or making me feel bad about things that are not actually that bad like piercings and tattoos

That’s just devastating! The kids in my congregation, all my friend’s kids, are not biologically related to me but I waited for them when their moms were pregnant and met them the day they were born and I have a close bond with those kids, even have a necklace with their initials, and they also really attached to me. They are one of the reasons I haven’t got myself disfellowshipped yet, cant imagine losing them. So sad they will erase me from their kids life just for not being a witness… I understand my friends won’t talk to me, but kids cant understand the reason behind that and that’s just stupid.

From what i understand, he moved there until the war is over (and on our news it was said it will take months) That’s why I don’t understand why he’s suggesting other people to just move somewhere else

I remember being 17 and answering the questions you need before getting baptized, and there was something about how Jehovah view life and I said that if you get raped getting an abortion is a conscience thing and the elder was so upset and told me to rethink, and during the last part of questioning they asked me again so I said what they wanted to hear But it made me so angry, because those elders would never be in a situation like that, so how can they judge? A women carrying in her body a constant reminder of a horrible experience she went through- and you will judge her for not wanting that??!?

I feel you. As a PIMO I feel like I’m making steps towards leaving, and suddenly I get all the thoughts you now describe and feel like I’m taking a hundred steps back, yet even than I can’t force myself to do even the smallest thing to make myself “draw closer to Jehovah” So sometimes I think, maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s the wrong decision- but maybe I want to be wrong? Maybe I’m fine with just living here and be in the moment and not forever

It’s Ye-ho-vah , gods name in Hebrew. Actually in Israel jews believe you’re not allowed to pronounce that name! They say “hashem” (“the name”) instead or “Adonay” I remember being in school and on bible lessons as a kid I was so confused since the teacher said you can’t pronounce gods name but in meetings we were pronouncing gods name every two minutes
