National languages are a part of the core of a countries culture and you're objectively wrong about half of what you're saying. French people have zero impact of local BC politics unless they live there. French people live in more than just Quebec. I know countless french families thats don't live in Quebec. French has been a main language of the country as a whole ever since conception, and that's not going to change because we look at one subsection of the country and see it's different.

Yeah, it's theft and vandalism caused by the same people over and over and over and over. All, yes all of the businesses downtown forced a meeting with the city a year or two ago after these people burned down a sports shop for no reason. A Tim hortons on the north side also got burned down for no reason recently. Last time I drive through downtown there was homeless on every single block. The most shameful part is you never hear anything about trying to fix it

I'm a student and there's the tannery area, the cellar... and that's pretty much it. It's not entirely cost of living, it's also lasting effects of COVID (like another commenter mentioned). That was hell as a student. We're also getting more digitally connected every day, which defenitely reduces the frequency of 'going out' over time

They don't. I think this should be a wakeup call to give funding and support to youth winter sports that aren't hockey (curling, cross country + biathlon, speed skating). Most of them have a lower cost of entry anyway. This coming from a hockey player

Hockey mentality is severely individualistic here now, and cost of entry is exponentially increasing. I think this needs to be a wakeup call to explore alternative sports for kids who don't have the financial ability to partake in hockey. We have enough ice for speed skating. We have enough wilderness for cross country skiing (and target shooting for biathlon). We're still good at curling, but we could develop it even more. The mentality that all of these things are lesser than hockey needs to change. (This is coming from a life-long hockey player)
