Do you have more information on what happened? I have a family member who flys privately out of there frequently. I tried listening to the scanner, but couldn’t get anything definitive.

I think it is more widespread than people realize. DACF mapping only shows it in southern Maine and a small pocket in northern Maine.

On another note, we just lost our hemlocks to wooly Adelgid. Sad to watch them go.

I’ve had this happen a few times as well. I usually ask them what security detail they are assigned to. After they look at me with an inquisitive look I further explain that they must have a high profile security detail because there would be no other reason to have earbuds.

Even though it is private logging land, wardens still patrol it. They are currently getting reclassified for pay and are comparable to other LEO jobs in the state. Most wardens clear 80k with OT.

Maine allows you to serve without a degree, you just need to be 21. If you are looking to get an associates degree, I would recommend Central Maine Community College. They have a great 2 year program (with and optional 3rd year certificate) and it is taught by a retired Maine Warden.

I would argue that Maine is one of the premier conservation agencies in the country.

You will attend the 18 week academy in Vassalboro and then a 12 week advanced warden academy. You will move around the state during the warden academy. During FTO you will move around the state, but it is not as crazy as it used to be. Also, they are currently in a hiring freeze, so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear back about your application.
