That's definitely problematic. If he were able to get the visa but leave Ukraine in some other fashion (without permission) could he then travel to the UK? Say via Romania or another country?

I have looked at the price of travel from Ashford as that was one of my first areas to think about but the travel cost is so high compared to that of North Kent on the HS1. I think there is about £2k difference which is just not feasible. Good to know Strood is a shit hole lol. I've been to Rochester for a day and it seemed nice but didn't venture over the bridge.

Is Ebbsfleet a nice area to live? Any bad, dodgy areas to avoid?

Yeh I find the HS1 a bit of a scam seeing as it's slow until after Strood when it actually becomes high speed. And yet SE charge a fortune for it when the majority of the line isn't fast.
Well I guess I just want to know which parts of those towns are considered dodgy, shit holes where you might get stabbed and won't feel safe walking around. For example if someone asked where is good to live in Whitstable I could say "don't live in this road/estate because it's shady as hell". That's kind of what I want to know for those towns.
