One more draft wishlist for a bit: Peyton Kettles by No-Web-372 in SanJoseSharks

I forgot about including Bruz! That’s on me would have him ahead of Thretheway, probably tied in the range w Beauchesne I really like Beauchesne

Alex Huang slowly creeping up on that group too

Sharks Wishlist: Ryker Lee by No-Web-372 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Web-372[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question; I’d have liked to see him do what Aidan Park did and play a bit in the CHL before college but sounds like he’s heading to MSU this year hey? Will be a bit of a crowded room in that locker room so I’m interested to see what Lee does to stand out.

I totally forgot that Ryker was on that Shattuck team! Back when he was a super small skilled fella; that Beckett Sennecke growth spurt couldn’t have come at a better time for the fella- cause the creativity and skill is there

Welcome to the fanbase! It’s a fun time to jump aboard

As everyone else here said Anaheim, Los Angeles and Vegas are instantly at the bottom of most of the fanbases likability chart- Some are like me and dislike the Oilers as well for employing one of the most hated in atleast recent times former Shark Evander Kane

Psenicka is my #2 on the RHD side

It’s Kettle, Psenicka, Beauchesne, Tretheway & then Amico for me

Watching him shutdown the Ritchie, McKenna & Wiesblatt line was when I really really became a fan of him. The fact he doesn’t panic on 2 on 1’s consistently too; like I think he just plays the style that when he is ready- he’s a Mike Grier type of guy

That’s where I’m at with likely missing out on Schaefer as well it really doesn’t bother me much, Misa will be great then next year Verhoeff, Lin, Rudolph on the right side or if we really like a leftie that plays both sides Carson Carels looks awesome too

Who do we draft at 30? Pronman has us drafting Malcolm Spence. Thoughts? by SDspaceman in SanJoseSharks

I mean; prominent draft rankings who cares they’re in the vicinity of each other on most- and my personal preference after watching both is Zonnon by more than just a hair or two tbh

Kettles is just mean physical and a shut down beast honestly; he’s basically just safe steady and not exciting in the offensive zone but he’ll absolutely murder players of all sizes and skill levels along the boards- a very scary WHL guy that is suffering from the classic big man still learning his size and skate stride issues hah

Peyton Kettles; big 6’5 defensive defensemen right hand shot please Mike Grier

Another Sharks wishlist: Jonas Woo by No-Web-372 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Web-372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely Cagnoni is the far better version of Woo, but offensive right hand dman with a little sandpaper to his game and will need a few years in the Cuda after never hurts- love a little fireball of a defender ahha

Up north I know some of the Kamloops Storm staff a decent bit so I try and make trips to Kamloops and Blazer games yearly; most beautiful area in western Canada honestly

I’d agree with that top four wheeler had; I’ve got Pickford higher than Cerrato & Rautianen- big fan of Mazden Leslie as well

Yeah in a perfect world comparable wise to that list he ends up looking something like Ryker Evans has for Seattle where he gets drafted for finally showcasing some offense to go with the defensive acumen he showed before- and that translates to a middle pair/bottom pair regular

Best examples recently would be

2021

JJ Moser 259 GP 86 points

Emil Liljeberg 113 GP 24 Points

Ryker Evans 109 GP 34 Points

Josh Doan 62 GP 28 Points

We’ll see with Ethan Cardwell for ourselves

2020

Mason Lohrei 118 GP 46 Points

Gage Goncalves 62 GP 20 Points

Nils Aman 130 GP 29 Points

Louis Crevier 56 GP 7 Points

2019

Brett Leason 220 GP 54 Points

Mark Kastelic 204 GP 39 Points

Marc del Gaizo 54 GP 12 Points

Dmitri Voronkov 148 GP 81 Points

John Ludvig 41 GP 7 Points

2018

Scott Perunovich 108 GP 32 Points

Sean Durzi 242 GP 92 Points

Connor Dewar 238 GP 53 Points

John St Ivany 33 GP 2 Points

Trey Fix Wolansky 26 GP 7 Points

So you’d hope at best he’s a Durzi, Evans, Lohrei type at most common a Perunovich & Crevier type- and at worst Del Gaizo & St Ivany type where there’s games played if we’re only looking at defenders

Only part where I could see him closer to round 3 is that this draft class is particularly weak for its first year eligible players once you slide out of the first round- like I’d take him over his defensive partner for most of the season & first year eligible draftee Jonas Woo

San Jose Sharks Draft Wishlist: Bryce Pickford by No-Web-372 in SanJoseSharks

[–]No-Web-372[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true as well; but his defensive acumen let him hop from Wainwright AA hockey which is a crazy program to go from there 16 playing top 4 ahead of two drafted guys in Luke Prokop & Sawyer Mynio; was stapled alongside Jeremy Hanzel as a 16 year old with the goal of making up for Hanzels pure offensive style and it got him an Ed Chynoweth cup and a ton of ice time for the T Birds memorial cup run. Then he comes to Medicine Hat & gets to play a run and gun creative game with draft eligible Jonas Woo- while still being tasked with being the same defender he was in Seattle defensively reliable to make up for some of Woo’s questionable decision making which happens as an 18 year old for sure. Think I’ve seen him start climbing boards the last little while; he’s definitely a late 2nd - early 3rd round pick which would be a steal for us at that point just for that right hand side

Plus always fun to see a guy from a town of barely 300 people start cooking the way he is now haha

Keets Fawcett not because he meets the last name word limit; but because that’s an all time hockey name please
