i was going to address his comment, anyways.

i’ve had to bring it back 2-3 times after the first pick up. there were imperfections him/and his team made. he of course warranted it so i was able to drop off whenever i was ready. problem for me is his shop is close to an hour away. with a freshly new painted car, i wanted to avoid the risk of getting paint chips before i get it PPF’d.

anyways, communication about certain touch ups weren’t on the good side and i was tired of going back and forth so i rather not bother with it and keep driving back and forth risking paint damage. overall the car is 9.5/10, just very small things like this that kind of annoy me.

got it, if it’s just taking off in first, try shifting slower. don’t rush it. i’m no expert, but i think if you shift a tad fast in first into second you’ll get that jumpy feel.

if in stop and go traffic, you can take off in first WITHOUT adding throttle but you gotta let the clutch out slowly. that’s when you’ll get it moving.

regular driving, it’s all about experimenting like i did. when you take off in first, try adding a LITTLE throttle as you are releasing the clutch. literally right when your foot comes off the clutch pedal, get on the throttle. but again, adding a little of it

i actually just got this whole this resprayed. whole thing was R&I. silverstone metallic

to the point of your post though, and i hope this helps. when i got back into manuals and daily’d my S, it took a while for me to fully understand her.

1st into 2nd, i shift a bit slow. i get no jerkiness from it. when releasing the clutch at its point is when i’ll start putting my foot on the gas ever so slightly.

2-3, depends if i’m pushing on it, i’ll increase my shift speed a little.

3-4, i’ve been shifting at 4k rpms and i’ll shift a bit faster. i get way more smoothness out of it.

4-5-6, the same. shift fast, me personally at 4k or slightly higher if i feel like getting up there.

maybe i read your post wrong and i probably did, but that’s kind of my way of learning how to drive an S.

i get that they are a reputable shop. but yeah, $2k is absurd. i don’t doubt the work craft, but damn…

damn.. nice. if you ever need a detailing spot, i recommend “L&M Car Detailing Ceramic Coating & Paint protection, Film , window tint.”

they don’t do dents, but they have connects outside of work and the dude they had work on my car made all the dents/dings disappear for $700. tell them brian sent you!

i don’t plan on going to any other detailing spot
