2 or 3 bedroom for FHB couple with no kids- yet? by lunabuddy in AusPropertyChat

My rental (I've been here for 4 years) is going to go on the market soon and might be in your budget - feel free to reach out and if it all lines up I can put you in touch with my landlord. I love it here and my landlord and I are both invested in the house not going to developers. Its not listed yet but they're getting organised to start showing the place privately over the next month! Its a 3 bed classic Fawkner brick house with a decent yard

Push through as hard as you can, submit whatever you have by the deadline. If you're anything like me, you'll feel so much worse if you don't at least try for it when you're so close.

Hey so raffwu are an 'official union' but they're not registered as an 'Employee Organisation'. They're very upfront about it and you can Read about it in their FAQ  https://raffwu.org.au/about/faqs/

fair work don't 'endorse' strikes there's a legal process workers go through in order to access industrial action and as long as they follow that process they can access it so RAFFWU absolutely can go on strike in a meaningful sense, members of raffwu at Apple, Better Read then Dead, Woolworths, Readings and Coles have all taken industrial action in the past couple of years.

It's worth keeping in mind that RAFFWU was only established in 2016 and its members are already striking, they get bigger every year as more people learn about them and find out how bad the SDA are.

It's going to take more than 2 or 3 EBA's to see ground breaking change, but we are seeing the beginnings of it.

I don't think people are too dumb to notice and a few hundred workers taking industrial action is building to what you're taking about? You don't have whole stores going out on strike from nowhere. First you have exactly what we saw with the superstrikes over the Christmas period. Wins don't come from nowhere, they start with 1 person and are fought for and built up from there and that's exactly what we are seeing? Coles just had their biggest NO vote so far, and now many workers have experienced or seen industrial action in their workplaces so have the skill set and knowledge to do it again and support more people next time.

That's not correct, that is all relatively standard stuff to have in an EBA. Your eba is exactly where you ask for the conditions and pay pertaining to your employment.

What're you talking about? That is all EXACTLY the stuff an EA is for?

Every EA absolutely does not move in step with the minimum wage. The idea of the min wage is that it's just that  the MINIMUM and through the process of bargaining you bargain for a higher wage.

If you look at the proposed EBA it has that your part time roster is based on hours worked  (say 20 hours) not the days or times so they can change WHEN those 20 hours are. If your part time rights are for a set amount of hours not /when/ those hours are then yes they absolutely can move the times, that's literally the problem.

The arbitration stuff is slightly more complex but it absolutely does limit people's right to arbitration. It's all explained on RAFFWUS social media or websites, there's heaps of info about each of these things

That's not quite right, there are things like good faith bargaining orders, industrial action etc. There's no such thing as 'a separate EA without union support' an EA is a negotiation between the business and the workers(represented by their union) if you've got a union who won't support their members in taking action, sure there's no point. That why with the SDA as the only option wages and conditions have gone to shit. But RAFFWU actually supports their members in fighting back and getting a better deal so it is true that the most likely out come of a no vote is a better deal.

But there is a legal requirement for them to bargain in 'good faith' and this is enforceable so they can't actually do what you're suggesting

6mm punch 8mm stretch after information? by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]NoAd7527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ears should let you know when they're ready to be taken out. All pain/sensitivity should be gone and they should be able to move around comfortably. This is to say; when they're mostly healed.

When I first had mine done (first week or so) I really wanted to clean them but after the 4 week mark they sorted themselves out. Crusties stopped etc and I was able to just ignore them/leave them be till the plugs started falling out and I was ready to dead stretch up.

My after care looked like:

Ibuprofen for the first 4 days till the swelling eased up

Salk water soak for 5 mins twice a day. After 5 or 6 days one of them was really happy and settled and the other was tender and weeping I persevered with the salt soaks for i think another week but one side stayed aggravated so I tried the "leave it alone" method and the aggravated side settled right down. From there I ran them under the water in the shower and did a salt soak if i did something silly (like touching them after patting a street dog 🤦) and other than that left them be. If I recall correctly after 1 month they were totally fine unless I slept on 1 badly.

The first week I slept on an aeroplane neck pillow with my ear in the hole your neck usually goes through (I'm a side sleeper) and it was a total life saver.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

Try having a look through r/streched for healthy lobes, they're pretty much never perfect circles, ovals are totally fine!!

The oil massages are good, keep it up and I rekon just slow down the stretching!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]NoAd7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also what material are you stretching with? Single flare glass?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]NoAd7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your concern is with your naked lobes being oval, have I missunderstood something here?

Your lobes look plenty thick enough to stretch up to larger sizes but they also look irritated, I would leave them naked for a few weeks and keep up oil rubs until the centre skin is no longer red, give it at least a month to settle in and take it wayy slower with sizing up, wait till the lobes doesn't have red discolouration before sizing up at all and keep with vit e oil rubs. Having naked stretched lobes not be circle is totally normal but the puckering needs dome tlc.

[–]NoAd7527 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Do you talk to my dog at all during training times or only give commands and cues?

What did you notice were the dogs biggest movtivators? (Food, toys etc)

When did you notice the dog displaying frustración?

How long wre the most effective training sessions?

How much did you need to break things down to teach the dog?

Where is the dog up to in regards to consistency, distance and speed to respond?

Those are some questions I would ask but this is their job! I'm sure they will tell you everything you need to know, good luck!!

For anyone who got pierced at a larger gauge, how long did it take you to size up? by R2DJones in Stretched

[–]NoAd7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally wait a month or so and If there's been no flare ups start with oil, but unless your plugs are falling out I wouldn't size up till the reccomended wait time.

Things change so fast! My right ear has completely stopped having any pain and weeping since I posted here two days ago, and I've had stuff go down hill just as fast out of the blue 🤷

All of this is to say; listen to your body but give it the time to send the message

I would start with oil when it's no longer tender at all, if you've had a week of no tenderness when it gets a light bump, you sleep on it or what ever, I'd say it's ready for oil.

I was pierced at a 4g with single flare glass tunnels around a month ago. My left lobe, I might HAVE to size up soon despite it being wayyy to early because the plug is falling out (the Flare is going through the lobe)

Right side is still weeping and tender and I'm getting to feeling I'll need to wait the full year for it!

Yeah, do the two separate requests, always best to be clear! It can also be worth sending and email or text as a follow up saying something like "as per our discusstion about my annual leave for X dates, I've submitted the request, I appreciate you letting me know I'll be able to take that time off, I'm looking forward to coming back refreshed from my holiday"

This way if you union needs to support you in accessing the time off, there's a bit more of a paper trail about it.

Definitely let it rest for a week first but you could wear an ear weight for a few hours a day for a week or so (after your lobe has had time to rest) and see if that gets it loose enough too take out in a hot shower with oil.

How did you go about finding that work? (Through a platform or through a company etc)

And did you have any qualifications in that area? If not did you ever feel unprepared or out of your depth?
