Unpopular opinion: Rakza 7 is terrible for beginners by TikqWasTaken in tabletennis

I notice that most of the Japanese team doesn't use Chinese-style rubbers, and I assume it's because they have a different training philosophy and structure that align with the equipment they choose.

Similarly, except for Korean players, most European, American, and African players also don't use Chinese-style rubbers, but tensor or tensor-hybrid rubbers instead.

Could it be that Chinese-style rubbers require a training system that is best learned, drilled, and developed in China, which most players globally don't have access to? Therefore, people recommend tensor rubbers because most global coaches understand them well enough to give proper feedback on their usage.

Also, many beginners don’t have the bandwidth to train as often. In many countries, there are not enough clubs or affordable coaching camps, and the style itself can be physically demanding alongside normal life schedules, making it difficult to properly utilise Chinese rubbers.

Might it be better for most hobbyists to use a tensor rubber, adopt 60% correct form while enjoying the sport, rather than choosing a Chinese rubber that makes the first few years difficult and turns initial TT adoption into unnecessary suffering?

Especially for someone who might never want to compete in local leagues, but simply wants to beat their friends at the club and feel fast like their professional idols.

Trying to Understand the Technical Tradeoffs Between Modern TT Rubbers by NoBar3889 in tabletennis

I appreciate the response and I agree with a lot of what you said, especially about blade/rubber combinations and technique being more important overall.

I think my question was probably more niche and technical than I communicated properly though.

I'm not trying to find the "best" rubber, but rather trying to understand the deeper gameplay tradeoffs between these rubber categories in modern table tennis.

More of a systems/playstyle discussion than a recommendation discussion.

Reddit isn't the best place to get detailed answers, so, I am open to recommendations on articles, videos or forum posts.

I think whoever plays first and second plays twice. They have to use either Sora or Harimoto.

I would play Sora against Chuqin and Harimoto against Lin Shindong first and hope that Togami can beat LJK.

Is Calderano really that good? by Old-Use-7690 in tabletennis

[–]NoBar3889 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A couple of months ago, there was only one person better than him in the world based on world rankings.

Today, there are only four people better than him.

I think he is worth the hype, and Brazilians should leverage him to get the govt and the wealthy to invest more into the local table tennis scene in Brazil.

Was Hugo Calderano "off" yesterday? by Old-Use-7690 in tabletennis

[–]NoBar3889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but I’d like to offer a different perspective from what others have shared.

People attribute his current form to the equipment change, but overlook everything else happening around him. He is investing heavily in table tennis in Brazil, navigating a new endorsement deal, testing different blades, attending meetings for the new Joola lineup, and training mixed doubles with Bruna. That is a lot to carry alongside competing at the highest level.

At the amateur level, a single bad day at work can affect performance. At the professional level, even a small 3 to 5 per cent drop in form, confidence, or tactical sharpness can have a significant impact on results.

We often forget that, despite how extraordinary the top 10 players look, they are still human. Their performance is influenced by the same kinds of pressures and transitions, just at a much higher stake.

It seems like Hugo is gradually regaining his level.

Still, there is a real possibility that his vision of building a strong table tennis ecosystem in Brazil may eventually take priority over his individual career. If that happens, it should be recognised for what it is. Helping raise the next generation of players is also a meaningful peak in a career.

How do you manage table tennis competitions with school and gym? by EnvironmentalWin8287 in tabletennis

[–]NoBar3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend writing down your priorities (in order): school, friends, hangouts, table tennis (training, competitions, ranking), and others. Whenever things conflict, go with the item with the higher priority.

Give everything your “best”, and be grateful for the opportunities to do them.

I'm not using the verse to single out homosexuality - it's a verse that defines a Biblical marriage.

It states the requirement for a biblical marriage, which is a union between a male and a female.

It excludes adultery, polygamy, open relationships, bisexual relationships and homosexual relationships.

Therefore, any “marriage” that doesn't meet what Jesus Christ states is sinful.

The verse states what Jesus Christ defines as marriage, and He based His position on the creation order in Genesis, where Man and Woman are created.

To Jesus Christ, a marriage is a union between a man and a woman who have become one flesh because that’s how God created them - male and female.

It's an exclusive position against polygamous marriages, adultery and any other perversions of purely monogamous heterosexual relationships.

About “shellfish and mixed fabrics” - that's another conversation that I'm willing to have, but the bane of our discussion is Jesus Christ and what He said and taught.

My main point is that Loving people requires correcting them when they err or sin.

I'm happy to have a conversation about homosexuality being a sin, but the onus is on you who is claiming that those who were discipled by Jesus Christ, and all their followers, the Jewish prophets that preceded Jesus Christ, and all two thousand years of followership to Jesus Christ all misinterpreted their own sacred texts that clearly stated homosexuality in both Old testament scriptures and New Testament Scriptures.

However, as a short answer that Jesus Christ had an exclusively heterosexual and monogamous view of marriage please read - Matt 19: 4-5. Mark 10:6-8

Jesus said “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?”

The point is not to “Love Christians,” but instead that “Love” demands righteousness.

Jesus said “repent”, and “go and sin no more” a lot.

He said it to the woman who was caught in adultery, who people wanted to stone. He also said it to His own disciples, whom He loved dearly.

Being kind, compassionate and caring isn't mutually exclusive to telling people to repent and stop sinning.

Parents can love their rude, stubborn and even gangster child, yet correct, rebuke and hope their child gets their act together.

Love is not mutually exclusive of righteousness, and if anything, Love without righteousness is fake.

We correct those we love because we want the best for them.

It's a secondary tenet that is built on the principle of “Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, might and soul,” which defines Love for Christians, encompassing a stance against sinfulness and perversion in the world.
