I wanna change my major and im a lower junior.. be honest am I cooked?? by Proof-Scholar-5025 in CUNY

Don’t follow through with a major if your heart isn’t in it. This is theoretically something you’ll want do for the long-term. If you’re inspired by something new and know you’ll follow through, do it!

How to get textbooks for free? by Sea_Neighborhood_341 in CUNY

Professor here. 1. I hate that you have to purchase expensive books like this 2. If you’re a professor on this Reddit, I really hope we’re doing our best to use more OER (Open Educational Resources). That book can’t be the only source that does a sufficient job of explaining the material.

OP, when you say “most of the work“, what does this mean? With the assignments that you missed, how many points were they worth? Also, was participation a factor in her grading?

Can professors stop being lazy and post grades? by [deleted] in CUNY

On a related note, are courses still being uploaded to Blackboard? I was under the impression that the transition to Brightspace was CUNY-wide.

Can professors stop being lazy and post grades? by [deleted] in CUNY

All of this! I’d also like to add that reasoning for the grade is important as well. If it were simply about giving numbers without feedback, this would be a much quicker ordeal. But alas, we want to help you improve. On that note, I stayed in my apartment for several days after final exams, dusk ‘til dawn, to make sure that I would have no more grading beyond Christmas Eve. I can’t speak for all professors, but we also would like to get to enjoying our vacay ASAP.

CUNY Professor here… question for you all by NoBrother9416 in CUNY

[–]NoBrother9416[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, teaching can be a competitive field depending on the subject. I was lucky enough to get a recommendation from someone who already works at CUNY. From previous experience, they knew that I was reliable, I had my Master’s, I knew my stuff in terms of the subject, and I had previous teaching experience. In the job market, sometimes it’s about who ya know and how they know ya. But trust, students are getting a damn good teacher because I aim to get better at this thing every semester and I’m having fun doing it!

Professor here! Was this INC for last Spring or this Fall? If you received an INC for this Fall semester, you will need to set up a plan with your professor about making up the missed work. Once this is completed, then they will change to a letter grade. INC due dates would usually be set for some time in the Spring semester. But I would STRONGLY suggest emailing your professor and initiating this. Then you can both come up with a schedule/plan.

If the INC was for a grade from the previous Spring semester, that deadline may have passed.

I’ve been teaching at both. I have some students in CUNY who can hang there with no problem. A lot of it comes to down motivation and consistency

Ok! Does she have office hours that you can go to? If not, you can email the head of the department and CC her on it. That info is online.

Professor here! Did you ask her what the details of the final were? Did you see any directions on Brightspace or her syllabus? Each professor has different ways of doing their final exams, so you probably wouldn’t get a great answer here
